Z Fest: Datsun Eye Candy
170 cars have stationed themselves on the pavement beside the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum near Hamilton, Ontario. This was the Twentieth year that Ontario Z-Car Owner’s Association has held this event and it was fantastic. Z cars were everywhere – from the iconic Datsun 240Z through to the Nissan 370Z. Toss in a GTR, mix in a bunch of 240SXs and a few Infiniti G35s and then add a few historic Datsuns – all within eyesight and reach of a wide range of warplanes and you have a great afternoon of viewing. The cars were amazing, as evidenced by the 1971 240Z cover photo. What a fantastic livery!

In the early 1970’s, as a teenager waiting anxiously to get my driver’s license, I drooled when Harold, one of my best friends as a kid, arrived at church riding shotgun in his brother’s newly acquired Datsun 240Z that was British Racing Green. To this day, I am still partial to dark green Z cars. I have never owned one but someday I would love to have one in my garage.
This classic 240Z is pristine in every possible way. The Datsun 240Z, known in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z, raised Datsun's profile as a car manufacturer.
This gold 1970 240Z from New York took home first place honours in stock class.
I don't know about you, but I love seeing one Z car driving down the road. Seeing dozens of them in the same place with their hoods open for inspection was absolutely fantastic.
