Trying to find out a bit more information about the new Mz3 6 speed automatic. It is said that it has a smaller than normal torque converter. Though the mfr indicates that NONE of the Mz3 vehicles, SkyActiv or otherwise, should be set up to pull a trailer -- I want to find out more. My trailer would be a very light one, generally, towed downhill to the garbage dump / green refuse place.. and total weight would be < 1000 lbs. Total weight GCVW would likely be less than the GVW of the car itself, full of passengers luggage. My question, then, is whether the smaller torque converter evident in the Mz3 SkyActiv would be problematic (with an aux cooler added)... Wondering if the possibly lesser torque multiplication values of the smaller converter (?) would be a problem, or the lesser volume of ATF, or possibly a lesser degree of trailer pull/push damping and absorption would be evident... Mazda North America, can you comment?
