Now that the car is apart, it's time to start putting the pieces together that make it a drift car. Quick change differential, better engine, suspension, roll cage, it's all going in! However, there isn't much time to get there. With only a few weeks to go before the Long Beach season opener, will Tony and crew make it? We'll just have to watch. Well ok, you'll have to read.

FRS Modified Sub Frame
The recent advent in drifting has been the quick change rear end. This type of differential has been in use in hot rods, circle track cars, and road race cars for some time now, so it is a tried and true option with good parts availability. The downside is that cars are normally not designed with this differential in mind. So a more than novice level of fabrication has to come into play.  Enter MA Motorsports!

FRS Modified Sub Frame
The Winters Quick Change, a legend in the business, will be the choice of TAngelo Racing's FR-S. Most certainly not an inexpensive quick change, but well worth the money as it has proven reliable in drifting. The team will also be using a LSD rather than a spool.

FRS Solid Frame Bushing
MA Motorsports fabricated these solid subframe bushings for the FR-S. This means the frame won't squirm about under high loads and will give Tony instant feedback and steering precision.  Critical when you're teetering on the edge of control, no matter what motorsport you're in.

Engine Fitting FRS
With the rear subframe and quick change off the list, it was now time to work on the front end and get that engine installed. Tony will be using the stroked, and Garrett turbocharged, 2AZ-FE from his old tC. However, the FR-S wasn't designed for that engine just as it wasn't designed for the quick change. Good thing MA Motorsports and Chris Forsberg know a thing or two about engine swaps!

STEP ONE – Mock it in, try a mount design, repeat…
