Very cool part, but I just fell out of my chair when I saw the $907 price on the picture.

Damn! It looks like a nice piece, but the price is crazy. We just acquired a similar diff cover made by Rogue Engineering for our E36 M3 and I thought that IT was rather spendy at $580. $907 just seems mad. Perhaps it is because its a very limited-production part at the moment. Billet is an expensive process after all. Hopefully as more people start to buy this stuff for the BRZ someone can do a large run of high-pressure aluminum castings instead and bring the price down.

I don't think you guys are accounting for just how blue this piece is, it may be more blue than the Cusco "roll cages".

$907? For that price, this thing better change my oil and do my laundry too.

That's the thing about these Japanese performance companies. Their R&D and manufacturing is sound, but their price is expensive. And in turn, China R&D (rob & duplicate) their designs and slowly send these companies to hell. Raising the price to recoup their costs is not the right way, instead they should maintain the R&D in Japan, but move manufacturing elsewhere, to Thailand or Malaysia maybe, and only manufacture in Japan for certain parts where it gets technical. Seriously I don't need Cusco Oil Catch Cans to be made in Japan, if they can make it with the same design in Malaysia at half the price I'm happy and they can take my money. I seriously want Cusco and all the other aftermarket companies with real R&D to remain in business, but to make their stuff more affordable as well.

At current exchange rates (yen to dollar): 68,000 yen is $853.

That is why this part is so expensive. It's made in Japan.

is the diff running hot really an issue for this car?

With sticky tires and a decent amount of power over a good length of time, temps can get up pretty fast. Transferring power through gears generates heat, there's no way around it.

I know it creates heat, but is the stock diff setup already proven not up to the task of some sticky tires and a little extra power? Given the price its not something I'd want to buy just in case...

Good job guys! It is a fabulous one. Toyota's much-anticipated Scion FR-S has received many test drives and many reviews. While they haven't all decided on the performance of the sport car, none seem to believe it is over-priced. You can finance car loans for a new car.
