2013 Lexus GS 350 F Sport review

TESTED:  2013 Lexus GS 350 F Sport

by Greg Vogel

The all new Lexus GS 350 F Sport shines in a lot of the right places. Park and walk away and you find yourself looking back at it more than once. Slip inside the cockpit and you find it very comfortable and easy to enjoy. Mash the loud pedal and the car jumps and screams with a very pleasing wail. This car could be driven quite sedately to the track, flogged for the day, then brought home and sported to the club for a night out. It really is that versatile.

The front fascia has an aggressive look, reminiscent of the IS-F. The wide lower opening combined with the “brake duct” openings and grille design lend a tough, street ready look.

The 19” staggered wheels, massive 4 piston calipers and 14” 2-piece rotors round out the sporty package.

2013 Lexus GS 350 F Sport, interior, leather, seats
The car's interior is nicely appointed with plenty of leather and a 16 way adjustable drivers sport seat. The fronts seats are very supportive, and they are heated and COOLED!

The GS350's front seats have plenty of lumbar support to get you through long trips, while the added thigh supports will keep you from sliding all over the place during spirited driving. There are 3 driver seating presets available for those time you have to let let your significant other, or worst yet, let the valet kids get in the driver's seat of your car.

I like what Lexus is doing with the F sport line but it seems rather unnecessary with the GS model other than to compete with the BMW or Mercedes lines. I really wish they'd done an F sport with the SC430 and dropped like 800lbs!

An F-series GS should challenge an M5 like the F-series IS challenges the M3. While this is a nice car it doesn't fulfill that mission.

what you guys are missing though is that this IS NOT a GS-F. this is a GS350 F-Sport. So it's more comparable to an M-packaged 535i or an E350 Sport.

306 horsepower? Nothing above the regular 350 GS? Come on, you figure they could have thrown in a TRD supercharger ^_^
