3200lbs is hardly lightweight, KillerBee. That's approaching turbo Supra territory with like 100 less horsepower.
To have 250whp in a 3200lb car (Genesis) would be less desirable than to have 200whp in a 2800lb (speculated FRS-BRZ weight) car.
Notice the video offering tire specs of 215 width tires as well. The Hyundai comes staggered with 245s out back.
The Genesis is just a porker compared to these new cars.

the Genesis isn't exactly light weight at over 3000 lb... and even if it was, so what, competition only makes things better for the consumer

Is that what the production model will look like? I'm surprised to see a carbon roof on such a low priced car (if price is still supposed to be mid to high 20's for the STi verstion)

I hope they make the mirrors bigger for the production version

I'm keeping an eye out on this (and the FRS of course), and it could possibly be my next car.

Had a chance to see this last night in person. It really is a beautiful car, wish they had specs on it. Definitely can't wait to drive one! I highly doubt the production run will have a carbon roof, wing, or BBS wheels as standard. Although the wing and wheels will probably be options.

all the previous STi's only had BBS wheels, only the current has them as an option... I think there's a really good chance the wheels will be standard. the carbon roof would be awesome as a standard item, but I really doubt it... and I really hope the wing is not standard.

I expect that the Genesis will go on a DIET for the next Gen. ;)

I really hope the brakes stay with it, lol. The wing I could do without, but the CF roof would be nice.

It is the STi Concept, so still not the final Subaru STi version as far as I know.

I would assume it keeps the BBS and Brembos on the production STi, to keep with the past STi offerings. Carbon roof maybe, they have featured it on the STi Carbon which was based on the production A-Line, but more likely not.

I think an S204 style wing would be more elegant looking. I hope to see this car in person next week at the auto show :)

Thanks for the video.

I agree, this car should have an S204 style wing to match its curvy body (if the wing is as hellafunctional as it looks then my comment is irrelevant). IMO this is a seriously good looking car in the age of slab-sided designs.

I'd prefer an S204 style or no wing even if it meant giving up some functionality. its not like this is some super fast car... its 200 hp, doesn't exactly need downforce...

Ok, this car is cool, carbon roof (I get the feeling this STi will cost a grip for what it offers)....but then it goes on and says "improved aerodynamic performance" improved upon what? This STi is a prototype. It's not like an Impreza that keeps evolving into something "better".
Oh well....

Thanks for the video. I spoke with a journalist who was at the LA Show and he was more fired up about the stripped down Scion version of this car - built with motorsports in mind, it's apparently the lightest of all the versions. he also told me that the C.O.G. of the BRZ is something like 19.5 inches above the pavement - low!
Sounds like a lot of folks are "pooh poohing" this car based on it's specs on paper - I'm looking at it more as a hardtop Miata or S2000.

would a manufacturer consider bodies in white as a part of the roll out or those $1 cars instead. im sure some motorsports teams want to get their hands on one.

A good little review from MotorTrend
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/1112_2013_subaru_brz_prototype_first_drive/
I've heard that wet weight on the car with a manual trans is 2667 and I see it was quoted in the comments below as well. I'm still glad to see then taking advantage of the boxer engine's shape/size. Dropped 4.8" lower and moved 8" back in comparison to the Impreza.
