2011 SEMA Show Sneak Preview!
by Chuck Johnson
T-minus 24 hours 'til the doors open at the Las Vegas Convention Center to kick off the 2011 SEMA Show. We’re so close I can literally taste it in the air. The smoke filled casinos and the incessant sounds of a million slot machines, singing in harmony as they crush the life savings of our industry peers one dollar at a time. Oh, the baby powder and glitter of my sweet Hawaiian girl Trinity, how I’ve missed the meaningless banter that we engage in between each of those pricey little dances. I’m literally itching in anticipation. Or wait; is that the same itch that resulted from last year’s after hours SEMA show debauchery? Crap, never mind that.
Anyhow, we’ve got our Tylenol, Red bull, and Vodka all packed up and we’re ready… Ready to sit humored as Sarah Forst and Annie Sam try to maneuver through testosterone filled nightclubs getting hit up by every drunken scumbag in the industry. Those are some of our fondest memories, but I digress… Back to the point of the 2011 SEMA show.
We’ve sent in our MotoIQ ninjas (yes, we have ninjas so don’t piss us off) to take some early reconnaissance photos of the show. No strippers, go-go dancers, or even scantily dressed car models though. You’ll just have to be happy with these crummy pictures of some of the industries coolest cars. Enjoy… We know we will. ;o)
Camaros, expect to see a lot of them this year.

Thanks for posting this for those of us who couldn't be there this year. Have fun but try to come home with some cash in your pocket!

I'll be visiting with several of our exemplary high school students. Thanks SEMA for letting us attend. If any industry pros would like to visit with our students, please let me know and we'll be sure to stop by your booth. Or just stop me and say "high". I'm the 6'10" guy with 5 students around me ;)

That "Badass Race Truck" is someone's tribute to Parnelli Jones' "Big Oly" Broncho, an awesome truck in it's own right! http://www.bajabronco.com/BigOly.shtml

Really liking the look of that 350Z. The gray one, not the white one...by any stretch of the imagination...

That's too bad you're not going to be there Aaron. I was looking forward to meeting you.

Chuck, are you sure you want that SR20? It says Mishimoto all over it. If that's any indication of what's inside the engine, I'll bet you don't want that engine.

@Fly'n_Z - Ditto Colin, we'll make it happen next year! I completely agree with Kojima when he says SEMA is the Tour-de-France of trade shows. 1 week of SEMA > 1 year of life in terms of how much abuse you put your body though.

Eric, no, no! According to the original Fast and Furious Mishimoto = performance :) Then again, quarter miles take 25 seconds with 7 speed Eclipse trannies and when there's danger to the manifold, floor boards fall out :P So looking forward to what you guys find at SEMA this week! Yeah, I spotted that white Z by the a-pillar but it's infused with 1 part RX7 and 1 part Panamarea to equal two parts funky! For the record, I think the new Camaros have the most exotic flair of the resto resurgent big 3 models. Just my opinion.

Mishimoto sucks. My Miata in Okianwa had lots of coolant leaks and was prone to overheating. I swapped in a mishimoto radiator with other parts. The car was still leaking coolant. Two years later I discovered my remaining leak was from the brand new radiator. :(
