Since lithium batteries have much different charging properties than lead acid or gel batteries, they must be charged with a special charger. A conventional charger won’t charge a lithium battery. We picked up Braille’s 2 amp lithium battery charger just in case we ever had to charge our battery.
Overall we have pared 35.5 lbs. from our bike with just some simple modifications that did not compromise the bike's utility or driveability. Most of this weight loss was high and rearward on the chassis, right where you would want to lose it. Supposedly our bike weighs 356.5 lbs. now. However, Ducati’s quoted weight (as with most bike manufacturers) is pretty optimistic. We think that the factory claimed weight of 390 lbs. is completely dry with no fuel or even any other lubricants or fluids.
We think that adding a conservative 20 lbs. for fluids and fuel is more of a realistic ready to ride weight, so that would leave us at 376.5 lbs. for a fully topped off bike. That is really light for an 1100cc fully equipped bike! That is 2.5 lbs. lighter than the new Evo SP whose factory quoted 379lbs is also probably fudged dry weight. When riding the bike, you can really feel the difference in weight. The bike is easier to throw around and just feels more nimble. We think it's because most of the weight was eliminated up high.
