Video: Hellaflush Pwns Joo

By MotoIQ Staff

If you are a long time MotoIQ fan you might remember this video we did a while back.  We stumbled upon it and still found it funny, funny enough to put it out there again

What is better, form or function?  The Hellaflush offset and fitment scene is sometimes a little puzzling to those involved with the science of speed.  After viewing some funny debates when lurking on forums, particularly those based on lifestyle, we can understand the debate.  We found this video and it is hilarious, especially if you have read some of the flame wars generated by debate over form or function.

You guys make this? Badass and funny as hell. Don't worry guys I'm not building an S13 to drift I autocross the bitch! When it runs that is... The local SCCA chapter has at least half a dozen S13s that dodge cones and maybe 4 or 5 S14s too. It's been 6 months since I was able to go out with them, but it's always nice seeing the cool cars people bring out.

One thing that drifitng has done to the 240 world is muff up all the prices. Every S-chassis owner wants to buy everything really cheap and sell it really high. I'm guilty of this too, it's just weird how the second you get your hands on a $20 set of used LCAs, they immediately go up to $50 on Craigslist. It sucks ass, learn supply and demand assholes!

LOL.
I never had anything against the hellaflush movement, or their hipsters-JDM wannabes. They're just kids growing up.

What I never understood though, was the smartass comments those folks come up with. Telling their buddies how fast they are with their "hellasick rides."
Every time I have a chance to go to those open track days I see these people on the skip pads doing doughnuts and breaking stuff (the drift crowd for the most part is cheap, and Chinese knock off reign supreme).
One day they will grow up.

im so glad i dont have to deal with this shit.
the group i drive with has no room for poseurs, and we flush them out pretty quickly by taking them with us on a drive and either leaving them far behind or getting that eerie satisfaction out of watching them go off (or seeing the aftermath)

the only way to prove the facts to these kids is by letting them learn it themselves. eventually, like JDMized says, they come around.
ill be the first to admit my first lowered car was too low, wheels didnt fit right, car handled like shit.
i know better now and i implement that knowledge.
even the hellaflush crowd, if theyre a true car-person, theyll come around eventually.

That is quite good. The hellaflush hipster crowd annoys me to no end. It's one of the reasons I no longer like Speedhunters.

The hellaflush crowd has over-inflated prices for 240sx's in my area, and the ones for sale are usually basket case-d to the point of no return. No thank you. The more viable option right now for a used, affordable, clean, platform for me is the Miata. (partially responsible for this conclusion is Dave Coleman and Skip-Barber)

Can't wait for the hella flush movement to be dead. The sad thing is there are so many good cars out being destroyed from this movement.

I've given up on a finding a S13 chassis to convert into a SOLO2 car here in Texas. *sigh*

That is too funny. Made me laugh.... and cry when I think about how many S chassis Nissans were written off by morons like the one portrayed here... Keep up the good work all at MotoIQ

I couldn't agree with this more. I originally got into imports (Hondas) for the bang for the buck performance value and track-oriented potential but after seeing all of the hot hatches emulate the mini truck movement of the 80s and seeing 20 inch "Hellaflush" wheels on EVOs and S2000s I just shake my head in disbelief. I used to be active on these import car forums but function has lost out to form as questions about how to properly set up suspension has turned into DYIs on how to gold plate your wheels (Face palm).

All this nonsense makes me want to buy a domestic now. People used to laugh at the reliability and handling of the domestic cars but as LSX swaps have shown and as Car and Driver's Lightning Lap has shown the domestics are not just about straight line performance and things blowing up anymore. Look at the new 5.0 Mustang GT, it laps faster than the Nismo 370Z, EVO X and New STI around VIR and the ZR1 is up at the top of of the charts: http://www.caranddriver.com/features/10q4/lightning_lap_2011-feature/sortable_times_3a_complete_lightning_lap_times_2006_to_2011_page_8
Never in my life would I have considered a Mustang but when they started to offer Brembo brake upgrades and targeted the M3 as a benchmark they sparked my interest. Still refuse to buy one though.
