Jasco
We used Jasco metal prep on all bare metal surfaces to etch them to give the paint a better surface to stick to.  Jasco also gives metal a coating of phosphate for rust resistance.  Jasco has phosphoric acid in it so you gotta wear gloves and be careful.

Jasco is especially important to apply to the roll cage tubes and welds.

After this step we prepped the bare tubes of the cage and the bare parts of the cars floor with Jasco metal prep solution. This acid containing solution etches the metal and creates a rust resisting phosphate layer under the paint. You have to be careful here and not breath the fumes or get any of this stuff on your clothes or skin because it has phosphoric acid in it.

After the Jasco dried, we gave the interior a quick final wipe with MEK and masked the door jambs and windows off with masking paper and scotch blue painters masking tape. We prefer this tape because it peels off easily and doesn’t leave behind a sticky adhesive residue when you peel it off like cheap tape often does.

The green looking JDM paint is aircraft zinc chromate primer.  Stephen Quinn plays it safe with the proper equipment to spray this toxic stuff.  Annie Sam didn't.  She is in the bushes puking about now.

Next we applied a thin coating of zinc chromate primer to all bare metal in the cars interior. This is a highly corrosion resistant etching primer that sticks to bare metal like crazy. With the careful prep we did, the paint will not chip off of the tubes and will stick almost as well as powder coat. This primer is toxic and carcinogenic so it's important to wear the proper respirator.

I hear rumors that another Scion might be going together for next years World Challenge TC class. Just a rumor, only a rumor.

I cannot stress enough the importance of a GOOD respirator! A little dust mask won't do the job... as I learned the hard way *Puke*
