Global Time Attack - Round 1 - Road Atlanta
By Wes Dumalski
Quality images by Sarah Forst and mediocre shots by Wes Dumalski
Attacking time is a funny thing… All sorts of things happen during these 2 day race weekends and no one knows what mother nature or Newton has in store for us. This past weekend at Road Atlanta both of these personas had a chance to show us who's boss and utterly prove that we are in control of very little. In this case the Saturday forecast brought likely promises of rain and when the teams hit the track to sunny skies they were in a fury to set down fast laps as no one knew (not even the weather people; do they ever?) what would unfold. As luck would have it the rain held off and as teams pushed ever further it was Newton who would prevail on this day. Through 11 wins in a row and numerous track records the Professional Awesome EVO VII would turn its last laps in anger, its life cut short by Road Atlanta.

39th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach
By Martin Gonzales
We're back to the Roar by the Shore for another weekend full of 4 wheeled entertainment. The gourmet food trucks were out in full force and the libations were flowing, but even then it was very difficult to keep our eyes off the on-track action. There really is something to keep every type of motorsports enthusiast or gear head entertained for hours on end. The 39th annual Toyata Grand Prix of Long Beach showcased racing from the American Le Mans Series, Firestone Indy Lights, IZOD Indy Car Series, and the Pirelli World Challenge.

Who Needs Sleep When There's Cars and Coffee?
By Joe Lu
I am an Orange County resident, and thus, located in relatively close proximity to a Cars and Coffee location at Mazda's HQ in Irvine, California. This being the case, you'd think that dropping by this weekly event would be a pretty regular occurrence for me. In actuality, I almost never make it out there, but this week was different. Dive in to check out the cars!

2013 Modified StreetCar Shootout - The Rules, The Cars, The Big Tease.
By Wes Dumalski and Sarah Forst
Like all good stories, this one starts on the airplane while on line for the shitter. I hear a voice come up behind me “my GOD this woman won’t shut the hell up”... I turn to fund the animated Bill Caswell and we begin bantering about this woman on the plane who had been talking about absolutely nothing at all for 2 hours. I am on this plane and talking to Bill Caswell because I could not get a refund on my Expedia package and rather than let the tickets go to waste I figured I could still head to Arizona and cover the UMS tuning time attack event and find some good feature cars. As luck would have it two complete car nuts are on the same plane heading to the same place to do the same damn thing; be geeks.

Driver Blog: Mike Bonnani - GTA Shift-S3ctor Pro-Am
By Mike Bonnani
If you are a horsepower loving speed addicted motorsports junkie such as myself, you probably saw the above photo of a FIAT 500 Abarth ripping around a race track and had to check your calendar to make sure it wasn’t April Fool’s Day. Don’t worry Rip Van Winkle, you didn’t sleep in until April and no, J-Lo is not getting into time attack. This is the HG Motorsports FIAT 500 Abarth; a 200bhp 2,900lb front-wheel drive, egg-shaped people mover.

Detailing 111: Wax Tech
by Connor Harrison
To many people, waxing is an annual hassle and the benefit is only temporarily appreciated. It is treated as something that isn’t really necessary, and only needs to be done if we’re getting spiffy for a night out on the town. Waxing once a year is simply not often enough (don’t believe what you see on TV)! Your car is under attack every time you drive it; all the dirt, tar, bug guts, bird poop, hard water, and acid rain work to degrade the finish of your vehicle. Your wax is your protection from these environmental offenders, and it wears away much sooner than you might think.

Story by Eric Hsu, Photos by Jeff Naeyaert and Josh Coote at MCA Suspension
The MCA S13 finished in 3rd place overall at the 2012 World Time Attack Challenge which is pretty amazing considering it's rear wheel drive. That's no simple feat in an event dominated by all wheel drive cars, big budgets, and world famous JDM tuners. What got the MCA S13 there was a great build by Murray and Josh Coote and their crew of friends with attention to detail exactly where it was needed. Of course great driving by ex-A1 GP Kiwi driving ace, Earl Bamber, doesn't hurt either. You've seen how crazy this thing looks and you've heard how fast it is. Now come and check out what's underneath the skin of the MCA S13 as I walk you through the car in detail. Best of all, IT DOESN'T HAVE AN LS ENGINE IN IT!

Evolution Dynamics Pikes Peak Edition Evo
By Sarah Forst & Wes Dumalski
F1 race car driver Stirling Moss once said "To achieve anything in this game, you must prepare to dabble in the boundary of disaster." Of course, he also broke both ankles and chipped four vertebrae after falling three stories down an elevator shaft a few years back so accidents can happen to anyone...
But how do you prepare for a floor routine that involves 14 somersaults 100 feet down a 45 degree abyss polluted with boulders? They don't call Turn 16 of the Pike's Peak course "Devil's Playground" for nothing. 12,500 feet up the side of the summit - just 1500 feet shy of the finish line - the corner features a steep unprotected cliff. Perhaps the asphalt leading up to the turn should be nicknamed Skidmark Alley.
