2013 Modified StreetCar Shootout - The Rules, The Cars, The Big Tease.
By Wes Dumalski and Sarah Forst
Like all good stories, this one starts on the airplane while on line for the shitter. I hear a voice come up behind me “my GOD this woman won’t shut the hell up”... I turn to fund the animated Bill Caswell and we begin bantering about this woman on the plane who had been talking about absolutely nothing at all for 2 hours. I am on this plane and talking to Bill Caswell because I could not get a refund on my Expedia package and rather than let the tickets go to waste I figured I could still head to Arizona and cover the UMS tuning time attack event and find some good feature cars. As luck would have it two complete car nuts are on the same plane heading to the same place to do the same damn thing; be geeks.

Top Fuel Rumble: An Interview with NHRA Rookie, Leah Pruett
By Justin Banner
Amidst all the talk and trumpeting of another Top Fuel Rookie, Brittney Force, during the Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona; there was another Rookie in Top Fuel I think needed some more attention. Able to out qualify Force, Leah Pruett and the Dote Racing Team really put on a show towards their start to the 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Championship season. I sit down with her and discuss her entry into Top Fuel and how she got to where she is now.

Tokyo Auto Salon 2013
by Tatsu Tsuchida photos by Akio Hirano
For some reason I think when foreigners (the Gaijin) imagine the Tokyo Auto Salon they expect to see some multi-level parking garage filled to the brim with not only performance cars but also a dance club like atmosphere with music provided by "one-box" style wagons with booming sound systems. Then an orgy of drifting up the parking embankment, scantily clad women in school girl outfits, and J-Pop ensues.

Evolution Dynamics Pikes Peak Edition Evo
By Sarah Forst & Wes Dumalski
F1 race car driver Stirling Moss once said "To achieve anything in this game, you must prepare to dabble in the boundary of disaster." Of course, he also broke both ankles and chipped four vertebrae after falling three stories down an elevator shaft a few years back so accidents can happen to anyone...
But how do you prepare for a floor routine that involves 14 somersaults 100 feet down a 45 degree abyss polluted with boulders? They don't call Turn 16 of the Pike's Peak course "Devil's Playground" for nothing. 12,500 feet up the side of the summit - just 1500 feet shy of the finish line - the corner features a steep unprotected cliff. Perhaps the asphalt leading up to the turn should be nicknamed Skidmark Alley.

Guest Driver Blog: Daniel O'Donnell of Professional Awesome
By Daniel O'Donnell and Wes Dumalski
There I stood in utter disbelief as the modern day Achilles, Jeff Westphal, shot an arrow across my bow. Three laps are all it took to send a message as loud and clear as a clap of thunder. In an unfamiliar car, in sweltering conditions and with controls out of reach, he had toppled my record lap time without any effort. "This was my car!" I thought to myself. "The car that I have taken years to master. The car that made me the hero so often while never complaining. The car that I witnessed Grant Davis and Mike Lewin forge with love, anger, broken relationships and worn-out credit cards." Westphal stood there with his charming grin and confident swagger and greeted me with a handshake and steel eyes as if to say, "You’re in my world now bitch."

It's almost 11pm Friday night in Hole-in-the-Wall, New Jersey; my bad, near Wall Speedway... I'm sitting in a hotel room with Dai Yoshihara and Darren "D-Mac" Mcnamara and their crew from SPD Metal Works. I'd refer to them as "Team Git-R' Dun", though Crew Chief Scott Dodgion and I threw around the name "Team Fuck Nuts" in jest. I tend to avoid NJ like a car accident, but I have been entrenched with the Falken Motorsports drift team to relate what it's like to be on the crew of one of the top teams in drifting.
