DaTruth is DaBomb

Once again, Damessenjah writes about some funny shit. DaTruth is Damessenjah's blog about everything that is undeniably true with the automotive tuning industry. He blasts ugly import models, wack ass Chinaman parts and companies, Meximas, magazine editors, etc. His ability to express the truth in well written prose is exceptionally perfect. Check out his current post on wack import models, but be sure to read all of his other entries for a good dose of laughter.

DaTruth Blog - Make sure to read the subtitles under the pictures for a good time.

BTW, while Damessenjah and I share many common beliefs, I

Shibuya 109

Rewinding back to January 2, 2008, Yaya and I went to 109 in Shibuya, Tokyo. For those of you not familiar with 109, it is 9 stories of female fashion boutiques. 109 primarily caters to various types of Shibuya "gyarus". I think primarily ko-gyarus and b-gyarus. That's Japlish for "girls" if you didn't figure that one out. The term "b-gyaru" is derived from "b-boy" if you know your hip hop terminology. There is an entire subculture of hip hop influenced Japanese chicks and dude...

You Can't Beat this Meat

Since most of us are on vacation right now, I'm going to do the same thing and take a vacation from writing about car related shit. I live and breathe cars the other 355 days out of the year so I need a break too.

I'm in the hotel room resting right now from a pretty nasty fall. I've never eaten shit on a snowboard where you roll over head first. The conditions in Niseko are beautiful right now and the snow is literally powder almost everywhere, but falling over on your neck is never a good thing. So I'm going to chill out for the rest of the day. I got in 4 bitchin runs down various slopes today so I'm satisfied for now. In Niseko, the lifts take you WAY up the mountain so ...

Sachiko Hanai

While I was up in San Francisco a couple weeks ago, I stopped by the Red Vic Movie House on Haight Street to watch an independent Japanese movie with Phil from 360 video and a friend. This theater is known to play indie films of all genres - some good and some bad. The name of th movie was "The Glamourous Life of Sachiko Hanai" and if any of you have watched some Japanese movies, you'll know that they can be pretty trippy. This movie definitely falls into the pretty trippy category. Sachiko Hanai is a call girl who gets a bullet in the forehead, but doesn't die. The bullet jacks up her brain (this is illustrated with cutting edge CG graphics). This movie is good for a time killer...

Industry Mail and Option Video

So it sounded like a lot of you may have misunderstood my post on the Industry Mail thing. My bad, I wasn't too clear. Read the last last couple of sentences again carefully. I was just trying to sound like I was apologetic in the beginning (fronting like I'm a good guy) and then letting you all know that I subtlety didn't actually give a shit. I guess it didn't work too well. Anyways, it's good to hear from you guys when you send me emails and stuff. We don't activate the comments on the blogs due to spam comments.

A couple weeks ago, Toshi, Yasu, and the Video Option crew came to visit at Cosworth to do a video segment. It was fun and I got to talk, hang out, etc. w...

DEEP SPORT

So my buddy Mike Ferrara from D-Sport Magazine bought a boat. Yes, the magazine with the Westminister Vietnamese coffee house chicks on the cover every month. Wow, the magazine business MUST be good. Mike is probably one of the hardest working old dudes (36) I know so he deserves it. The good thing is that he's my friend...hahah. Yes, that means I get to occasionally go fishing with M&M (Mike and his girlfriend Mitsuko). He named the boat DEEP SPORT. Rather appropriate don't you think?

So we took off early last Sunday morning at 4:30am in an attempt to go to Catalina Island and catch some yellowtail. It turned out to be a beautiful day despite the morning overcast. ...

Karaoke

I was looking through some pics and I found some pics of the time we were partying at the Tajima house. I rented a Karaoke machine for the night and it has like 20,000 songs in English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, etc. For those of you who don't know, Mike Ferrara the publisher of D-Sport Magazine and my good friend, is a hardcore karaoke enthusiast. I am too, but only when I'm drunk. You guys should try it some time: get hammered and then sing! It's funner than you think. Trust me, I was a non-believer at one time too. Karaoke is like the national past time in Japan. You can't walk a block in the city without passing a karaoke place. If a whole nation digs it, you g...

Toshi is selling his S13

If anybody is interested in buying a pretty dope S13, check it out here. Of course this car is partially dope because it used to be mine's until Toshi decided that he needed a buff ass daily driver and practically forced me to sell it to him. It was my track car and I was having a blast with it, but I'm always down to help out a friend (and make a buck). It really is a good car. Check out the specs here. I think he's asking only $16.5k obo. That's less than what I sold it to him for, but I sold it to Tosh almost 1.5 years ago...

LA is fun at night

Man was this last weekend dope. Friday night I went to a bar in Torrance with my friend Daniel. If I remember correctly, there was quite a bit of tequila, jack daniels, moet, and dom perignon involved (Daniel is a baller). I got home at 7:30am after some breakfast at Denny's. Now that was a dope night.... I was able to somehow wake up on Saturday and get some paper work done. Then I took a nap and then Saturday night began. It started with a trip to club Circus in Hollywood where my high school buddy, Paris (so named before Ms. Hilton was big shit), did a DJ set from 11-1...

La Cita

Last Friday I went to meet up with some friends in downtown LA. Somewhere off of 2nd St., between Broadway and Main there's a whole bunch of new bars. They're all a bit more upscale so they have dress codes on Friday and Saturday nights. So since I rolled up in my new balance, jeans, and a t-shirt they told us we couldn't get in. Not to fret said Anne, who said we should roll to La Cita. I think it was on Olive and 3rd or 4th. Anyhow, it's not a place I would have rolled into on my own, but she goes on Thursday nights sometimes when Swindle Magazine has their parties. She's an editor over there I think. Swindle is an undergroundish, random, artsy kind of magazine that's pretty...
