The transmission was much weaker than the Civic transmission and hampered the efforts of the Nissan camp in getting the Sentra SE-R into the record books in competition. The SE-R did manage to get into the 10’s then even the high 9’s in import drag racing at a high cost in broken transmission parts. Nissan transmissions might last one or two passes, a point that Honda’s didn’t reach until they were deep into the 9’s and even the 8’s

The SR20DE engine has been Nissans workhorse performance 4 cylinder for more than the last decade. Originally introduced in North America in the Infiniti P10 G20 and in Japan in the PS13 in 1990, the SR20 was designed as a performance motor from the beginning. Later in 1991 the SR was dropped into the venerable B13 Sentra SE-R and NX2000. The SR20 was carried over to the B14 200SX SE-R in 1995 and the B14 Sentra SE in 1998 as well as the P11 1998-2001 Infiniti G20. The 2000-2002 B15 Sentra SE was the last application of the SR20DE in North America.
Project Nissan Sentra SE-R

Our idea of a project car is one that can go fast, have even better handling characteristics, can bring things to a stop without any drama and be competitive on the racetrack. Back in the early/mid 90's finding a car like this was simple
It seems like the B15 Sentra SE-R Spec-V just doesn’t get any respect. Unlike previous models of SE-R poAwered by the SR20DE engine whose owners seem to love them and drive them until their shells decay into loose piles of metallic oxides, the owners of the new generation of SE-R seem to be eager to get rid of them, trading them in for the WRX, EVO, Si or SRT as soon as their incomes grow enough to afford the payments of these more expensive cars.
Should You Change Your SR20DET Head Gasket?
SR20DET swaps in S13/14 240SX's are quite popular here in America. One of the questions I frequently get is, "Do you think I should change my head gasket before I swap the SR in?" I always recommend changing it because it's fairly easy when the engine is sitting on a stand or even on the floor (don't crush the steel pan people!). The paper gasket is fine for 205hp and probably even ok for 280hp, but in reality it's detonation that usually destroys the stock paper head gasket. Since there are so many cheap asses that use the OEM ECUs on 91 octane in the SR20 swap world, it's even more reason to change the head gasket. Yes, the stock ECU can handle 91 octane because it can default to ...
