We realize this installment's title sounds more like we are getting Project Nissan 200SX ready to hit the dating scene and quite frankly that is what all of the odd's and end's we have been cleaning up has felt like... Only our crunches were done tweaking under the dash and the shaving of weight was done via mail order rather than a strict diet.

In our last edition of Project Low Buck SR20DE, we stated our goals to obtain a decent amount of naturally aspirated horsepower and good track day drivable reliability from an underdog plain jane SR20DE without braking the bank. Fulfilling these goals would also create an engine with excellent street driving characteristics as well. All of our engine work will be done on the cheap with a tight budget in mind but with plenty of attention paid to minor details that can really help an engine live under the stress of track day pounding, perhaps the most abusive environment that a grass roots enthusiast will subject his engine to

In the 6+ years of building this project this is the question we have gotten asked more than any other, sometimes it was asked in a less ghetto fashion, the fact remains that people wanted to know how fast the car could cover 1320'...
The transmission was much weaker than the Civic transmission and hampered the efforts of the Nissan camp in getting the Sentra SE-R into the record books in competition. The SE-R did manage to get into the 10’s then even the high 9’s in import drag racing at a high cost in broken transmission parts. Nissan transmissions might last one or two passes, a point that Honda’s didn’t reach until they were deep into the 9’s and even the 8’s
As I try and breathe new life in to this never ending project I find myself reflecting on it's various states. From 3 10's and 1200 watts, to fart cans and drop springs, this car has seen more parts than a stock boy at Nopi.........
Last we left off Project 200SX spun the rollers at 252 horsepower, at the time a new GA16 record, what we didn’t tell you was that part of the reason we stopped where we did was because we also found the limit of the clutch.
