Newsflash! Sierra Sierra smashes Time Attack Record! (updated!)

News flash!!  Hot off my cell phone, at the Redline Time Attack, The Sierra Sierra EVO VIII has just broken the long standing time attack lap record at Buttonwillow set by the HKS EVO in 2007 at 1:43.523  with a scorching 1:43.200.  With Billy Johnson's NSX absent, they are probably a shoe in for a victory this weekend.

Billy Johnson and Jack Roush Jr.

Billy Johnson, Jack Roush Jr. win at Homestead, a 400th victory for Jack Roush (new pictures!).

Billy Johnson and Jack Roush Jr. overcame a qualifying penalty, which forced them to start at the back of the field, to score an amazing win in the Miami Grand Prix, Round 2 of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at Homestead Speedway.  This was the duo’s second Grand Sport (GS) class victory together in the 2.5 hour, 91-lap Homestead 200 in the No. 61 ROUSH Performance Products Ford Mustang GT.  This was Johnson’s second consecutive victory at the 2.3-mile, 11-turn road course, in a car that advanced 33 positions from start to finish.

The race will be airing on SPEED Channel:  Homestead-Miami Speedway March 13 (Sat.), 1 p.m. ET
