Everyone knows the desert is a brutal place as weather changes happen in an instant. For those who attended Top Drift Round 1 at Willow Springs, sanctioned by Just Drift, nothing was more evident than that. This first round marks the beginning of the Top Drift season and the fight for Formula D licenses to several Formula Drift Pro-Am drivers. What better way to make them earn it than to keep running the event with a lake on the track?

The Falken Team was spotted at Willow Springs Balcony a few days ago shaking down Dai Yoshihara's 2012 S13 drift car. There has been little public information about the car in the off season. Basically Dai will be driving the same Nissan S13 that he has been campaigning for the last 2.5 years.

After a two-month break, the Rolex Sports Car Series returned to action for the first time since the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona with a race at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Barber circuit provides unique challenges for both the drivers and the engineers responsible for setting up the Daytona Prototype and GT-class cars of the Rolex Sports Car Series. With a layout that makes passing difficult, an abrasive surface that rapidly degrades tires, as well as high ambient temperatures, racing at Barber is very difficult.

In 2011 Walker Wilkerson blasted out of the Pacific Northwest and took the Pro Drifting world by storm. The 21 year old college kid sponsored mainly by his family was able to make his mark as a privateer in the most competitive and hard fought Formula D season in history. With his spectacular reverse entry driving style, Walker clutch kicked his powerful but pipey SR20DET powered S13 through the season.
