Global Time Attack - Round 1 - Road Atlanta

Attacking time is a funny thing… All sorts of things happen during these 2 day race weekends and no one knows what mother nature or Newton has in store for us. This past weekend at Road Atlanta both of these personas had a chance to show us who's boss and utterly prove that we are in control of very little. In this case the Saturday forecast brought likely promises of rain and when the teams hit the track to sunny skies they were in a fury to set down fast laps as no one knew (not even the weather people; do they ever?) what would unfold. As luck would have it the rain held off and as teams pushed ever further it was Newton who would prevail on this day. Through 11 wins in a row and numerous track records the Professional Awesome EVO VII would turn its last laps in anger, its life cut short by Road Atlanta.

The MCA S13 finished in 3rd place overall at the 2012 World Time Attack Challenge which is pretty amazing considering it's rear wheel drive. That's no simple feat in an event dominated by all wheel drive cars, big budgets, and world famous JDM tuners. What got the MCA S13 there was a great build by Murray and Josh Coote and their crew of friends with attention to detail exactly where it was needed. Of course great driving by ex-A1 GP Kiwi driving ace, Earl Bamber, doesn't hurt either. You've seen how crazy this thing looks and you've heard how fast it is. Now come and check out what's underneath the skin of the MCA S13 as I walk you through the car in detail. Best of all, IT DOESN'T HAVE AN LS ENGINE IN IT!

Unless you've been living under a Time Attack rock, there's no doubt you've heard of the amazing NEMO Racing EVO. At the recent 2012 World Time Attack Challenge in Sydney, Australia, the NEMO EVO piloted by Aussie V8 Supercars driver Warren Luff, did it's best lap time of 1:25.020 which effectively destroyed the CyberEVO's record lap time of 1:28.851. That's 3.831 seconds faster than what was previously the fastest Time Attack car in the world. After the jump I break down exactly why this beautifully constructed EVO is the fastest Time Attack car in the world.

I realize it's been a long ass time since I've published an update, but they'll start rolling out again somewhat regularly after the new year. The car arrived safely back to Design Craft in September from the giant shipping mishap to China. Progress has been slow with Team American members busy with the remainder of the Formula D season, SEMA, the holidays, and new jobs (for several of us ex-Cosworth people). I never did completely finish the coverage on what happened up until we rolled into the shipping container so part 9 will continue directly from part 8.

Global Time Attack Round 5 - Texas Edition

"Everything is bigger in Texas!" At least that's what they say... When I stepped off the plane my first destination was the bathroom. I unzipped with nervousness and as I relieved myself I realized that so far, the above cliche was completely untrue. After leaving the facilities with my head hung in shame I realized that something WAS bigger in Texas... The ASS whooping that Global Time Attack was going to deliver to the infield course at Texas Motor Speedway!

Beth Chryst who races in the Playboy MX-5 Cup will come on after him to discuss the MX-5 Cup, a little about her career, and we'll get into a discussion about Mazda and its involvement in motorsports. Then, a man who needs no introduction, but I'll give him one anyway! From the Global Time Attack series, John "Nads" Naderi will join us to close out the show. We'll talk about the recent controversy on Nemo, the GTA season to this point, and what we can look towards for 2013 in GTA and Time Attack in general. We'll probably even discuss cutlery and the perfect steak knife to have in your kitchen!

The team and I have been waiting patiently for the past three weeks since we first received news of the mis-shipment of the ARK BNR32 Skyline GT-R to China. Yes, you read that right: China. Unfortunately last night, I finally received the final word this week there would be no way in hell the car would make it to Sydney in time.
