We can just about all agree that racing is fun. We can also agree that racing is also very expensive. Dai Does it Again! Dai Yoshihara and Mike Bonanni Win MPTCC TU and TO Championships at North American Festival of Speed
Fresh off his 2011 Formula Drift Championship, Dai Yoshihara proved that he can drive grip as well as he can drift by clinching the MotoIQ Pacific Tuner Car Championship TU class at the first inaugural North American Festival of Speed at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend. Dai drove Team MotoIQ’s iconic Dog Car Nissan Sentra SE to one victory in the weekend double header after not finishing his first race due to a collision with the Acura TSX of APD Racing’s Brian Smith. The win gave Dai enough points to put a lock on the TU championship.
VIDEO: 7 1/2 Laps with Dai Yoshihara (MPTCC Race @ WSIR)
Ride with Dai Yoshihara in the Team MotoIQ Dog II during round 4 of Redline's MotoIQ Pacific Tuner Car Challenge at Willow Springs. The Dog II is a modified Nissan B14 Sentra powered by a SR20VE engine. Dai’s rear suspension was starting to fail during the previous day's race where he came in second place, but with no spare rear dampers, the team instructed him to try his best. Dai managed to put the ailing car on the pole Sunday but the car's handling had deteriorated to the diabolical point with Dai reporting via radio the car to be almost undriveable with unstable oversteer slowing the car by 4 seconds a lap over the previous day's lap times.
Redline Track Events: Round 4 Race Report - Willow Springs International Raceway July 2 - 3, 2011
By Laura Heng
Every championship winning race team has had bad weekends. Blown motors, wrecked cars, or maybe just a $2 bolt that snapped can put an early end to your weekend during the heat of competition. The only thing that separates the champions from the rest of the pack is that some guys get back to work and rebuild to fight another day, others just pack it up and take up bowling instead (not that there is anything wrong with bowling). July 4th weekend at Willow Springs was Round 4 of the Redline Track Events series and was a particularly brutal weekend of racing for many.
