Global Time Attack – Palm Beach International Raceway

The second Formula Drift / Global Time Attack doubleheader of the 2012 season fell this past weekend at the recently renamed and renovated Palm Beach International Raceway. Off the back of the event at Road Atlanta, which was judged to be a big success by the series and its competitors, there was some head-scratching involved when only twelve cars made the trip to Palm Beach.

Two plus two equals FOUR WINS for GM in Detroit in Pirelli World Challenge Racing

The Pirelli World Challenge series rolled into the Motor City for Rounds 6 & 7 of GT and GTS class competition. The Chevrolet Grand Prix at Belle Isle was revived this year, after going four years since 2008 from seeing any racing action. The battle ground was an island in Detroit with 14 turns and covering 2.08 miles. For the Pirelli World Challenge Series, they were racing to win the Cadillac V-Series Challenge in a double header weekend. With unpredictable weather conditions and practice times looking very close amongst the top drivers in both classes, it was shaping up to be an exciting weekend to be in Detroit.

Evosport and MBBS Racing World Challenge GT Racecar Unveiling

Those of you who follow European cars have probably heard of Evosport.  If not, Evosport is one of the premier tuners for BMWs and Mercedes vehicles along with other high-end performance vehicles.  Evosport Engineering is the branch of the company that develops performance parts.  Finally, there’s MBBS Racing; this is the road racing arm of the company.  Recently, the team at Evosport decided to build a World Challenge GT racecar out of a vehicle no one else has tried and brought on our friend, racecar driver Craig Stanton, to be the lead driver and team development manager.  So what car did Evosport choose to be the basis for a World Challenge GT racecar?

Event Coverage: Formula Drift Round 3 – Palm Beach International Raceway

The word of the day at Palm Beach was ‘proximity’. That is, the Formula Drift judges put the emphasis on the tandem competitors on keeping proximity with the lead car. Sacrificing angle and line for the sake of maintaining door-to-door competition was the name of the game. As a result, Palm Beach International Raceway had the closest tandem competitions of the year, and tons of carnage.
