Ken sent me a link to some cool videos from 1981 on the Cosworth DFV Formula engine. These are pretty interesting:

VQ35 on the Engine Dyno

Several months ago when we had the VQ on the engine dyno at Cosworth, I snapped a couple of pics. Since I never got to work on engine dynos very much in the past, I thought it was way cool to see a street car engine that we [the mostly unibody car crowd] commonly build/tune/whatever on a professional grade engine dyno. The ease of working on the engine is nice: there are no cut arms, burnt hands, busted knuckles, and emanating under hood heat blasting you in the face like on a chassis dyno. The amount of data we can collect is ridiculous too.

In the US, we do not have transient dynos. I think Cosworth has 7 transient dynos in the UK, but that is the SUPER big dollar equipment for ...

Cosworth EC Pro Development

These last couple of weeks Ben, an engineer from Pi Research/Pectel, and I have been living and breathing 2008 Subaru Impreza STi. The Cosworth EC Pro is designed by the brains at Pectel UK (a division of Pi Research and sister company of Cosworth) for Cosworth. It is exclusively sale and use in the North American market so all you guys in Europe will not be able to purchase or use it (for now at least). There are enough differences between the European market STis and North American STis to make it a very impractical adaptation. For you Americans though, you will soon have the absolute most powerful plug-in ECU available in the...

Cosworth CA F1

I got some emails asking me what the Cosworth CA 2.4L V8 engine was/is/going to be. I'm sure the engineers at Cosworth UK will be detuning the engine a bit for lower cost and higher mileage, but in 2006 it was the highest revving and most powerful F1 engine at the time.

Cosworth Drag EJ257

Before I started working at Cosworth, the guys here were working on a "low budget" drag Subaru EJ257 engine program. The quotes are there because the term is relative. Low to one person may not be low to another. The budget was low compared to a real motorsport engine program, but probably considered high for the street car/weekend warrior crowd. EITHER WAY, PLEASE DO NOT CALL COSWORTH AND ASK FOR A DRAG SPEC ENGINE (unless you have 6 digits+ US$, not Japanese Yen of course). I'm not being a snob; I'm just saving you the pain of rejection. Anyhow, Cosworth was enlisted to build 2 engine programs: one gasoline and the other methanol. Pictured below is the methanol engine that made 1013...
