World Time Attack Team America - ARK Design's BNR32 Skyline GT-R Intro Part 2

by Eric Hsu

The team and I have been hard at work with ARK Design's BNR32 Skyline GT-R. You may remember this car as the old XS Engineering BNR32 GT-R, but that was the distant past. ARK Design now owns this car and it is being rebuilt from the ground up. Follow us as we convert this car from the glorified street car that it was to the world class Time Attack car that it will become. The team only has until June to have this car built, tested, and loaded into a shipping container for Sydney's 2012 World Time Attack Challenge with a limited budget and limited man power.

One last thing: this will be the last time you will see an RB26 in it and the last time you'll see this car blue.

Skyline GT-Rs, RB26s, and the XS Engineering BNR32

by Eric Hsu

The BNR32 Skyline GT-R is still the Nissan GT-R to me. You could argue the Hokosuka KPGC10 was the first GT-R. No disrespect to grandfather GT-R, but c'mon, are you going to tell me that 160bhp is exhilirating? The R35 is a GT-R too and is a technological marvel, but the last time I checked, the BNR34 was already a little too heavy albeit just (nothing some Z-tuned carbon parts can't fix). The BCNR33 GT-R? No comment unless you're going straight in a hurry. That only leaves one GT-R left: the BNR32, but I'd take a BNR34 GT-R as a substitute too.

Fun at IDRC

A virus attack kept me from posting this past week. Mark was cool enough to fix the prob pretty quick although we seemed to have lost the original blog header for now.

Anyhow last weekend at the IDRC drag event at Fontana, I got a chance to drag race the XS Engineering time attack GT-R. I showed up Saturday and the starters wouldn't let me run because the car didn't have passenger and driver's side windows. Road racing = windows down and drag racing = windows up. I had to go back to XS, pick up the regulators and glass and install them at back at the track. The thing I don't get is that they will allow a 7.3 sec...

XS GT-R Time Attack - Super Lap Battle 2007 @ Buttonwillow

Last week on November 7th was the Super Street Super Lap Battle. Otherwise known as Time Attack, but they had to get all JDM on the name. So for a couple weeks before SEMA and the days following SEMA, I spent a good part of my time preparing the XS BNR32 GT-R for the event after work. While I was at SEMA, Koji and Peter at XS took over and put the car together. As usual, Koji and Pete did an excellent job as the car was mechanically 100% reliable. There was a lot to do to get the car running, but we did it. We didn't quite do as well as we wanted though. I think we finished 4th in class and like 6th or 7th overall. In fact, the car went over second slower than last year. If w...

Buttonwillow Time Attack 11/06 Video

I finally edited this video. It's Tarzan Yamada kicking ass in the XS BNR32 GT-R. Only 0.3 seconds away from the Cyber EVO. Next time...
