Here's a video that Hankook released just days before WTAC 2012. It's a recap of the World Time Attack Challenge 2011 from the Hankook point of view. If you're a WTAC or Hankook Ventus TD fan (great tires), then check this out.

The Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge (WTAC) 2011 was a massive success for the promoters, competitors, fans, sponsors, and vendors alike. Ian, Nathan, Kyle, the announcers, and the volunteers who all make up the World Time Attack Challenge and Superlap Australia successfully put on the best damn Time Attack event anywhere in the world to date! But there were some controversies and I attempt to clear them up here.

The World Time Attack Challenge is coming up pretty fast next week on August 5 and 6. There have been some changes made to the EVO since winning the 2010 Source Interlink Superlap Battle final at Buttonwillow, but we've been pretty quiet about updates mostly because we've all been pretty busy concentrating on other things. Mike, Jet, Richard, and Ron have been able to squeeze in some work between the Ferrari races and I've been able to get up to Sierra Sierra a couple times for some engine testing in between my 900 other tasks and travels. The results are pretty cool I think considering what little time we've been able to spend on the EVO. Will the changes be enough to fend off the new domestic Australian and Japanese competitors? I sure as hell hope so. Pictures are inside after the jump.

What does one of the world's fastest time attack teams do in their off time? Why they run a Ferrari Challenge team of course! Algar Ferrari of Philadelphia and Sierra Sierra join forces to run a F430 Challenge and a 458 Challenge in the 2011 USA Ferrari Challenge series which is coming to a track near you. Details on the car, program, and about 900 pictures after the jump.

A trick, tiny, high flowing, new wastegate from Turbosmart Australia. I used a pair on the Sierra Sierra EVO. Good enough for Sierra Sierra, plenty good for you (or those of us with normal cars). The tiny package size means you can fit this wastegate in almost any engine bay.

It's been a long hard road to get to 1:41.0, but we've arrived. We are nowhere next to finished so you can expect even faster times in the near future, but for now winning the Source Interlink Superlap Battle at Buttonwillow Raceway, CA two years in a row is pretty damn sweet.

Wondering what all the hype is about? Stop wondering and look inside. You'll find what I consider to be the most impressive feature set available on any turbocharger for the performance and racing aftermarket industry.

The last test at Buttonwillow was the straw that broke the camel's back both for the choice of turbocharger and the cylinder head sealing issues. You can see the despair (and my head scratching) in the picture above, but with any down there's always going to be an up. BorgWarner with their EFR turbo lineup and Cosworth with our turbo race engine experience are coming to the rescue.
Images of broken turbos, fire damage, and other cool stuff are just inside.

Results after two days of time attack battle at the Superlap Australia's World Time Attack 2010. In some ways the results aren't surprising. Either way it was an awesome event that other organizations should aspire to.

Updates after the first day of Superlap Australia's World Time Attack 2010. The Panspeed FD is a surprising performer. The CyberEVO has problems. Guess who's in the lead?
