Doing More with Less: Ryan Gates Time Attack Mitsubishi EVO X

If you're into the Time Attack scene, no doubt you're well aware of Ryan Gates and his winning 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X; Ryan has been tearing up the Time Attack record book with an unheard of winning record.  In the 2009 Redline Time Attack Season Ryan blew up the record book with an amazing 7 wins in 7 events in Modified Class.  Ryan also scored wins at the Buttonwillow Superlap Battle Finale and at the NASA Road America Time Trial in the TTB class.  That’s an amazing 9 wins in 9 events entered!

Project EVO X: Part 1 - Suspension

What does the guy that has the Ultimate Streetcar do for a daily driver?  Cheston Chiu is no stranger to building some really sick iron.  His super clean, built to the hilt twin turbo 350Z is no show car.  The Z placed second, missing first place by less than a point in Sport Compact Car Magazine’s Ultimate Street Car Contest and repeated the performance when the USCC torch was handed to Modified Magazine after SCC’s demise. Since the Z is a bit extreme to be a daily driver, Cheston wanted something nice but not as boring as his Maxima beater.  The car still had to have some potential for some nice modifications but nothing that would render the car impractical as a daily driver.  After considering several different options, Cheston settled on a 2010 Mitsubishi EVO X.  The biggest reason was the twin clutch TC-SST transmission

EVO X Finishes 24 Hours at Silverstone


Congratulations to Ecutek, ADR Motorsports, Ralliart UK, and all others involved for finishing the 24 hour Britcar race at Silverstone with a completely stock engine. This was the car's first time out and it set the fastest lap time within the beginning 30 minutes of the race and during the last 30 minutes of the race. Here's an email from David at Ecutek:

Ecutek are pleased to be able to announce it's involvement in the Official Mitsubishi UK race programme.


Mitsubishi UK decided that the best place to publicise the strength and power of the EVO X is in endurance racing.

Lancer Ralliart Edition


While finishing my Lexus the other day over at XS, Rob from D-Sport mag was over there finishing up his dyno testing on a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. If you remember this is the Lancer model that Stephen sent me some shots of while a photographer was doing some catalog/ad shots for Mitsubishi back in April 2008. I guess it is finally released.
