Driver Blog: Jeff Westphal

You may know Jeff Westphal, everyone’s favorite David Beckham look-alike, as the one-time G-Stig – and as the driver of the GST Motorsports Subaru Impreza that lights up Time Attack events around the country. However, last weekend, Jeff got a call that put him into a Ferrari F458 Italia in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. To top it off, Jeff qualified fourth and led the race before his co-driver Alessandro Balzan brought the car home in second place. Score one for the Time Attack guys! Look for Jeff in the no. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari F458 Italia all year in the Rolex Sports Car Series.

Bad Idea or Brilliant? Inside the Rimicci Corse Fiat Abarth World Challenge Touring Car

Anthony Rimicci had an idea. After years of racing Alfa Romeos in vintage races across the west coast, the re-introduction of the Italian Fiat brand – and the fun-to-drive Fiat Abarth – to the North American market prompted him to build one for the SCCA’s World Challenge series,  to compete in the Touring Car class against the likes of Honda Civic Si’s, Mazdaspeed 3’s, and VW GTI’s. Could the Abarth, a small car even compared to that competition, be made into a World Challenge winner?

Driver Blog: Ryan Eversley

Welcome to my first blog for MotoIQ! This also could be my last blog for MotoIQ so let's at least make it memorable shall we? First off I promised my twitter followers that I would sneak five crazy words that they chose into the blog, so if you see anything that doesn't make sense just go with it. Second, I hate reading the same crap over and over again from everyone about how their race weekend went so I'll try and keep it light hearted but more importantly as real as possible.

TESTED: Olsbergs MSE SuperCar Lites

By Efrian Olivares

Our previous look under the hood of the Olsbergs MSE SuperCar Lites car came at the open test held by Global RallyCross in Lake Elsinore, California. Drivers from any discipline were invited to submit an application to drive the car, from which GRC selected drivers to participate.

Thankfully, two friends of MotoIQ were selected to drive the car – Time Attack driver Mike Bonanni and Formula Drift driver Kyle Mohan – and ended up in the same test session on a cold Friday morning. You could say that both drivers come from very different driving backgrounds, and you would be correct.

Nerd's Eye View - Olsbergs MSE SuperCar Lites

By Efrain Olivares

The cars of the Global Rally Cross series – the fleet of Ford Fiestas, a few Subaru STI’s, a couple of Saab’s, and a Dodge Dart – are no doubt some of the wildest racing machinery that you can possibly see in North America. The racing they produce is unreal, with these compact and subcompact cars banging fenders and flying through the air.  However, to call up Olsbergs MSE and get into one of those Fiestas presents a financial challenge for most people. Enter the SuperCar Lites.

Driver Blog: Tyler McQuarrie

Round 6 of the Formula D Championship would be in Sin City, Las Vegas! I had some unfinished business from a year ago when Formula D made its stop here and I was really hoping to repeat my win at this round in 2010. I wasn’t surprised to see a new track layout, simply because Formula D has changed almost every track we have gone to this year.

Driver Blog: Duncan Ende - Lime Rock Park

By Duncan Ende

On the podium at Lime Rock! Every year, the American Le Mans Series goes on hiatus during late spring.  The break gives participating teams a chance to get their cars over to France for the 24 hours of Le Mans and back without missing any races for their trouble.

Driver Blog: Tyler McQuarrie - Wall Speedway, New Jersey

I always look forward to this round simply because Wall Speedway has been good to me in the past and I like the track. The track layout we use is longer than most tracks we go to and there is a lot of time spent at full throtle, with some aggressive transitions. It just has a lot of flare.... But it can also bite you big! I was excited to get the Mobil 1 Chevrolet Camaro out there!

Driver Blog: Tyler McQuarrie

By Tyler McQuarrie

I arrived at Road Atlanta 6th in points and confident after the first round of the Formula D Championship. Round 1 at Long Beach went well considering it was my first time competing in the Mobil 1 Chevrolet Camaro and our first time competing as a team. We showed everyone in Formula D that we are a serious contender for the 2012 Formula D Championship. Every driver looks forward to the Atlanta event simply because the crowd is awesome and it always ends up being one of the best events of the year.
