60 Days to Export or Surrender Your Skyline

by Eric Hsu

It appears that the government is wasting resources chasing certain Skyline GT-Rs out of the country. What a great example of our tax dollars at work.I haven't really been following the news with "illegally" registered Skylines, but it appears that Kaizo Industries got raided last month and their entire inventory of Skylines was confiscated as well as Kaizo's files, computers, and everything else with any possible evidence in or on them.

Dynojet 248C Chassis Dynomometer FOR SALE

by Eric Hsu

I've had this Dynojet 248C sitting over at XS Engineering for just under 3 years now. It's literally been sitting and hasn't been used for 3.5 years. XS has been using the 4 post lift on occasion, but they are moving soon and while I should have got off my ass and tried to sell the dyno, I did not.

Ken Block Jump Car 2 and Cosworth Power

by Eric Hsu

I helped Vermont Sportcars spec the Cosworth components and some of the ancillaries selection, but the credit all goes to Vermont Sportcars for building a good car and to Ben Hoyle at Cosworth Electronics in Cambridge (UK) for the engine calibration with the ECPro. While Ben is no stranger to EJ engines (he was the head engineer for Prodrive's WRC engine development for the Subaru World Rally Team), it was Ben's first time to tune a full Cosworth engine. After the Baja300 event, Ben called me up and asked me in his fairly thick English accent, "What's that thing got in it? It makes some SERIOUS power." I said, "Naturally of course. It's got Cosworth power."

Nashville Redline Time Attack - Sunday 7/26/09

I remember why I don’t play roulette much in vegas any more (see yesterday’s post). You never know what’s going to happen sometimes. The Sierra Sierra EVO 8 had a rear differential mount failure in the first time attack session on Sunday that prevented Bomarito from completing a timed lap. The car was running solid all day Saturday and even cranked out a 1:01.3 in a Sunday morning practice session. The constant beating of the Nashville Super Speedway’s relatively rough infield to oval transitions and the massive G loads of the oval banking took it’s toll on the SSE EVO’s rear end and bent the front portion of the rear differential mount and cracked ...

Nashville Redline Time Attack - Saturday 7/25/09

I like it out here in Tennessee. The people are nicer than in LA (I’m not too friendly myself but nodbody’s perfect) and the landscape is super green everywhere which makes for a much nicer drive than say a drive to Buttonwillow in California where it’s nothing but brown nothingness. Its crazy to see younger guys with import cars talking about JDM this and Buddy Club that in a southern drawl. I never thought I’d see the day where building import cars has become this mainstream. I guess we can thank Nopi and the F&F movies for that.

Question IT

by Eric Hsu

Some of you may or may not know, but I have a monthly column in Import Tuner magazine called “Question IT”. I have been contributing for about 1.5 years now and there have been a couple different intros and a couple different pictures. Carter at IT says it time to retake the heading picture and I agree. I’m not sure who writes my intro in the heading, but I think this issue has a pretty good intro. It reads:
