Just goes to show even an older style car can be competitive with nthe right driver. Best of luck to Walker. Is there going to be any Mike Kojima magic suspension tuning during the season?

Thanks Mike K. for writing this article. It has inspired me after having a crappy weekend fighting a Rochester carburetor on a 1969 Nissan Patrol. (Rusty and old fuel supply)

Having a small extinguisher is also useful for putting out fires your fire system can't. When Project G20's motor let go during a testing event, the oil caught fire, then went under the floorboards to the middle of the car and continued to burn. Luckily, I was able to put it out with the extinguisher, but not many people put fire system jets in that spot under the car.

You do have good friends Mike :) Walker - Where are you at up here in the PNW? When I read this aricle I kept thinking this guy has got to be with the NWnissan guys, they're all about drifting! Good luck to you this season! Pk - A rebuilt Rochester quadrajet is one of THE best off-roading carbs out there, so show that thing some love and it'll show some love right back :)

what exactly is a sr20ve mechanical lifter? That motor uses rocker arms mounted on a shaft... is he using solid lifters? obviously the head isn't VE... I'm glad to hear the vq's 6-speed seems to take abuse fairly well, that will be a good upgrade for the track car

I forgot your battery at home sorry! VE uses shims for lash adjustment.

The vq 6spd does sound like an awesome idea, but imho a z diff would also be a good idea. One of my buddies was on dennis m's crew last year (yellow/ orange s14 with an s15 front and vq power in formula d,) and mentioned that dennis put a 350z diff in his car because he was running outta of 5th gear at around 115mph. just food for thought.

The next Matt Powers?

told you this is what drifting is about. Style, being low, not turning it into nascar and pure driver skilll

If you look at Walker's car, it is a highly functional well set up car.

you don't need the Z diff, there are plenty of ring and pinion options for the R200, I was asking because the article says he is running sr20ve mechanical lifters...

Nice write up! The guy has crazy angle that's for sure. It was awesome to see him come back and have a solid event after getting into the wall in NJ qualifying too! Very encouraging to see a racing series where TRUE privateers can still get out there and mix it up with big stars and teams. One of my favorite things about FD in fact.

"Heat management is critical as the S chassis was not designed to be turbo and left hand drive." You forgot us europeans! the 200SX s13 came with CA18DET and S14 with SR20DET
