Braille Altima Hybrid

Sarasota, FL August 17th - The August Redline Time Attack event wrote a new chapter in the Time Attack history books.  Not only was it the first time Redline Time Attack visited the historic Sebring International Raceway, but fans also witnessed the first production based Hybrid racecar compete in Time Attack.  Blake Fuller piloted the Braille Battery Nissan Altima “Hot Rod Hybrid” to a 2:49.126 lap time winning the FWD Street Tire category and setting the record for the class in a Hybrid racecar.

The Braille Battery race team went to the Redline Time Attack at Sebring with high hopes of competing with some of the fastest Time Attack racecars in the nation. This gas/electric racecar may not be the fastest vehicle on the track but it is breaking new ground for future technology. Driver and owner Blake Fuller of the Braille Battery “Hot Rod Hybrid” had this to say about the event. “We couldn’t be happier with this weekend setting a Hybrid record at Sebring,” said Fuller. “The car ran flawless and these Yokohama Neova tires were awesome. We believe that Hybrid and electric racecars are the future of racing. I think this is a great step in making “Green” cool for the young people that see Redline Time Attack as the place to see modern day Hot Rods.”

Anyone know how that lap time stacks up against 'comparable' non-hybrid cars @Sebring?

Quick, someone invent a method of manufacturing hybrid-car batteries that doesn't cause more harm to the environment than an SUV!

As I was reading this; I was like WTF? That was the slowest car out there! It is a really cool car tho to see in person. Who ever built that cage did a awesome job!
There was a little eg civic running the hpde the day b4 that would have SMOKED the hybrid tho..

However, the guys were really cool to talk to and it is a new car so , best of luck to them! More power is on the way according to the guy I talked to.

Beautiful car...

it got beat by a fwd car in a lower class... and there's nothing special about "winning" your class when you're the only car in the class... it had the second slowest time of the event...

Right, but you're kinda missing the point. No one is saying this car is "kicking ass and taking names", but it is a cool to see it out there. You have to start somewhere................

I understand that, and best of luck to them with developing the car, but when they say crap like winning their class and setting the class record it kinda sounds like they're saying that they're "kicking ass and taking names". I'd be a little more understanding if they actually tried to be fast, but it really looks like they're just doing this for publicity when they put bc coilovers on a time attack car...
