Revenge of the Nerd-My Mail Box and Other Funny Stuff
By Mike Kojima
So it looks like Jeff has too much time on his hands and has been hard at work making digitally enhanced unflattering images of me again. I guess the point this time is not some sort of tech rant from me but to show what showed up in the mail at the palatial MotoIQ Headquarters. Someone named Mr. Thumb has started up a group called NoFakeShit.org and since MotoIQ has always had an anti janky copy policy, Mr. Thumb has sent us a care package full of cool anti fakes stickers. I especially like the one you could stick on someones car that is equipped with fake stuff.
Here is a copy of the letter that came with the stickers.

Of course we get a lot of hate mail from fans and manufacturers of fake crap, some even in the form of threats and I suppose this will trigger another round of hate but someone has to take a stance. It won't be the magazines, they need money so bad, they will accept ad dollars from anyone. The editors don't like this but the sales department doesn't care. We will take up the fight.
If you share our viewpoint contact Mr Thumb at info@nofakeshit.org and help us spread the word and fight the power!
Here is some stuff I wrote about this before, click here.

Speaking of weird stuff, I guess it's weird to me but obviously not to a huge segment of our market, is the car show scene. I am totally not a car show person, I can respect the love of cars here but I can't understand how someone can spend most of the day sitting around at a car show to be judged on how your car looks. To me this seems pretty boring and the mods that a lot of show people do are, well interesting to be polite. Some of my good friends are in car show crews but I can't get interested in this myself.

"Our friends at DSport Magazine are also heavily involved. In fact I entered their model search and am in the running to be Miss DSport so check out my video and vote for me!".......LOLOLOLOL.....oh Mike... I always call those guys that bring their modded car to car show "posers"...and they get offended....why? They seem to like to show off their shiny cars and pose with it (you know those thugs pose?)....then you have those self proclaimed model.....

Feh, I want to see a car show where you get thrown out for putting on superfluous, useless modifications. Personally, I think the best show cars are the ones that actually work, and work WELL. Think about it, a car show for actual race cars/super buff ass street cars? That'd be, well, impressive to be polite (yes, I said that on purpose). I'm absolutely mesmerized by that cage. Not only is it absolutely not functional/extremely dangerous simply by poor geometry, but it incorporates what appears to be both poorly bent tubing AND some sort of ridiculous slip-on connector that uses misaligned bolts. They managed to justify cutting up a perfectly good FERRARI dash to put in a cage that's both non-functional AND extremely ugly. Seriously, there should be a cash award for that kind of stupidity; and by "reward", I mean people who come into contact with the owners of this car should "reward" themselves with the money in their pocket, because clearly they have too much. Better yet, I hope somebody steals their Ferrari, finds a way to bring it back to stock, sells it, and distributes the profit throughout the community.

That Ferrari cage reminds me of Cusco's bolt in "cages".

Sort of leaves me in a bit of a conundrum, they're italian, but they are riced out. Spaghetti-ers maybe? people seem to confuse "modified" with "better" and unless you're into japanese bosozoku culture, I've got issue with that. I was thinking of making a couple stickers a while back that said "engineer does not approve" but I figured I'd wait till I finish my degree first.

If they don't already, score sheets should have some kind of engineering category that can add or subtracts points from the score so that all this b.s. is treated appropriately. It would be even better if a copy of the engineering judge's scoresheet had to be posted on the window so that spectators can learn what should or shouldn't be done. Maybe that would have a positive effect on reducing the amount of fake shit sold.

I'd love to see the installation instructions for that cage. "With hammer and screwdriver, cut holes in dash." Oh, now I see. It was so obvious, how stupid of me. The cage is designed that way as not to obstruct the 3 meters mounted on the A pillar. Leave it up to the Chinese for such great innovations. One product should never get in the way of another. What does FML mean?

I hope that is just one of those replicars based on a fiero or something.

I got those stickers in the mail too Mike. You think its legit? I don't think its fair to only clown on show cars. Sometimes you have to clown the show car people as well. Here's what was in front of me at Spocom 2007:

Car shows are dangerous, you have to wear all of your gear.

I love the stickies!

Where can we vote for Mike for Miss D Sport? I want to see him on the cover, and in a feature.

I seriously want the No fake shit approved sticker!
