 MotoIQ Staff Report

LOS ANGELES (April 12, 2010) – HKS USA, Inc., the premier manufacturer and supplier of premium automotive performance systems, introduces the key item in transmission cooling for the Nissan GT-R R35, the DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) Cooler Kit.  From the street to race circuits, the HKS DCT Cooler Kit for the GT-R has been developed to provide firm, positive shift engagement while assisting in the prevention of overheating the clutch and transmission.  By stabilizing and maintaining lower oil temperatures in the transmission, the life cycle of the oil is extended.  Integrated with the factory water-cooled transmission cooler, the DCT Cooler Kit also assists in reducing the GT-R’s overall water temperature.  The HKS DCT Cooler Kit is available through authorized HKS Pro Dealers.  For more information, visit www.hksusa.com.

After seeing the Brass Monkey R35 World Challenge GT-Rs go into limp mode all the time from overheating transmissions I would say that this is a definite necessity for someone who wants to beat their GT-R on the track.

Most of the Cobb GTR's cooling mods go toward the tranaxle. It has 3! coolers for all the stuff back there.

The slipping of the clutches creates a lot of heat. In the transaxle, you have clutches for the center diff. You have the DSG clutches.

Then you have gears of the transmission, and gears of the rear end, all creating heat.

The Super Taikyu R34 had center, trans, and rear end coolers on it, along with a provision to do a front diff cooler on some circuits.

Just like the Evo X MR dual clutch SST tranny; those suckers overheat after a few laps on track. A cooler is mandatory for tracking those cars.
