About BorgWarner Turbo Systems

Located in Arden, North Carolina, BorgWarner Turbo Systems is the leading global supplier of turbochargers for diesel- and gasoline-powered passenger cars, light trucks and commercial vehicles. A pioneer in turbocharging technology since 1952, BorgWarner Turbo Systems continues to lead advancements in the industry with innovations designed to improve fuel economy, reduce emissions and optimize vehicle performance.

Engineered For Racing - EFR

The EFR line of turbos was born out of an internal BorgWarner Turbo Systems program labeled Advanced Aftermarket Products. The program was engineered by a cross-functional team that began with the proverbial clean-sheet of paper. No legacy products, no preconceived notions of what a turbo could or could not have; no restrictions. The aerodynamics for the product line were selected using a range of optimized combinations that would give users turbo solutions anywhere between 250 and 1000 horsepower capability per turbo. Next, a list of every notable design characteristic for an engine boosting device was tabled. Specific interest was given to new ideas that had never been formed in metal or had never been combined into an aftermarket turbo.

The result is the new EFR line of turbos from BorgWarner. These turbos contain a bevy of key attributes such as Gamma Ti turbine wheels, dual ceramic ball bearing cartridges and investment cast stainless steel turbine housings. Collectively, those features help give the EFR line its innovative appeal and will provide a breakthrough experience in durability, device responsiveness and installer/user satisfaction.

AirWerks

The AirWerks line of turbochargers draws from years of proven success in the OEM marketplace.  Taking proven technology and adapting it into usable configurations for pro racers and extreme street tuners. The AirWerks line of turbochargers is able to meet a wide range of horsepower requirements, ranging from the S1BG cable of supporting 120 horsepower up to the S510 line supporting up to 1650 horsepower per turbocharger. All of the AirWerks turbochargers are rebuild able, upgradeable, and extremely versatile.

BorgWarner EFR Turbo Feature Set

Did you know that BorgWarner is currently the largest OEM turbocharger supplier in the world? Despite being as big as they are, BW is planning the release of the Series EFR turbos designed specifically for the performance aftermarket and racing. For the past year, Brock (aka Brockstar) and his team of engineers and techs have been hard at work developing the EFR product line.

Sierra Sierra EVO Update & BorgWarner EFR Turbos

The last test at Buttonwillow was the straw that broke the camel's back both for the choice of turbocharger and the cylinder head sealing issues. You can see the despair in the picture above, but with any down there's always going to be an up. BorgWarner with their EFR turbo lineup and Cosworth with our turbo race engine experience are coming to the rescue.

Sierra Sierra EVO Pre-WTAC 2011 Update

The World Time Attack Challenge is coming up pretty fast and there have been some changes made to the EVO since winning the 2010 Source Interlink Superlap Battle final at Buttonwillow.  We've been pretty quiet about updates mostly because we've all been pretty busy concentrating on other things.  Mike, Jet, Richard and Ron have been able to squeeze in some work between the Ferrari races and I've been able to get up to Sierra Sierra a couple times for some engine testing in between my 900 other tasks and travels. The results are pretty cool I think considering what little time we've been able to spend on the EVO. Will the changes and addition of BorgWarner's largest turbo in the EFR line be enough to fend off the new domestic Australian and Japanese competitors?
