About AEM Electronics

ENGINEERED TO OUTPERFORM—BY RACERS FOR RACERS
We are dedicated to the design and engineering of premium performance electronics for racers. We live Motorsports and our involvement in both professional and amateur racing—on four wheels or two; in the dirt, sand, salt, snow, water or track—is what inspires us to create our products. We strive to deliver the best racing electronics solutions at the best price.

But what does that really mean? It means that we race (or help someone who does) in our off time. We buy and install parts just like you, and we don’t like to compromise. So, if we identify a unique product idea that delivers a real solution or figure out a way to make something work better for less money, we make it. We are inspired by helping race teams go faster, set records and win championships because that is what drives us both professionally and personally. WE GET IT—from your point of view.

CONSTANT INNOVATION
When racers and enthusiasts buy AEM performance parts, they are getting the finest engineering, highest quality and best value our industry has to offer. Look no further than our products for proof. Years ago, we wanted to make stand-alone engine management available to the masses by developing a Programmable Engine Management System (EMS) that plugs into a factory wiring harness. We did, and our Series 1 and 2 Plug & Play EMS systems are on thousands of racecars. But if you aren’t improving, you aren’t winning, which is why we are proud to introduce our Infinity programmable engine management system. It’s a quantum leap over our existing technology, and almost any engine control technology you can find anywhere. Its only tuning limitation is—truly— your imagination.

Our Wideband UEGO Controller was the first product to incorporate a gauge interface with a wideband air/fuel controller. We’ve upped the ante again by introducing a Wideband Failsafe Device—a combined Wideband controller unit and boost gauge that proactively monitors AFR and Boost to save your engine should your AFR stray outside of a selected range.

In 2007, we introduced our Water/Methanol Injection System and have refined the components to deliver what we feel is the most reliable system on the market. But failures happen, and since we could not find a Failsafe device that truly protected an engine, we designed one. Our Water/Methanol Failsafe device monitors the entire injection curve to trigger an alarm event under any condition, allowing you to use your water/methanol system with complete peace of mind.

And there’s more! From our new AQ1 Data Logger, to our Dyno-Shaft on-car dyno system to our High Output Coils that deliver CDI spark energy and inductive coil-like duration, we design, engineer and source parts that work better, offer more features and ultimately help you win.

The Wideband FAILSAFE Gauge is a Universal Exhaust Gas Oxygen (UEGO—“you-way-go”) controller with an internal boost sensor, an internal data logger and a full color Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display. It includes technology to activate a failsafe strategy in the event AFR falls outside of a user-defined operating window. If the AFR falls outside of the set operating window, the Wideband FAILSAFE Gauge triggers a user defined output function that can save an engine from catastrophic damage.

This product is a must have for all tuned performance engines, either forced induction or naturally aspirated, fuel injected or carbureted. Any high performance vehicle owners who want a highly accurate AFR tuning tool with logging and a protection strategy that can save an engine from catastrophic failure will want this FAILSAFE device.

The Dyno-Shaft is a true on-vehicle dynamometer system that delivers Horsepower and Torque numbers as accurately as the most respected dynamometers, with the major advantage being that it measures power while the vehicle is under operation in real-world conditions. It is not an accelerometer-based system, so it will not skew readings due to uphill or downhill transitions, crosswinds, vehicle aerodynamics, wheel spin, vehicle weight or the myriad other factors that can affect the accuracy of GPS/accelerometer-based units. Instead, it measures a vehicle’s actual transmitted Torque and speed at the driveshaft, allowing it to record and output REAL Horsepower and Torque numbers. Eliminate Guesswork at the track. Use it for engine tuning, chassis set up and torque converter/clutch development. Dyno it all in all conditions.

Project Miatabusa - AEM Data Logging

The Hayabusa has different air/fuel trims for each cylinder and there's a really good chance fuelling is going to be wrong on at least two cylinders. The only way to know is to simultaneously sample the air/fuel ratio directly at each exhaust port.  Enter the AEM 4-Channel Wideband UEGO Controller and AQ-1 Datalogger.

Project G20 Racecar - AEM AQ1 Data Logger

My memory is horrible. Peak coolant temp on that last session?  Hell if I know.  A/F ratios?  The guy behind me said I shot flames on decel, so rich would be my guess. Intake temps?  No clue.  The fact is, there's a lot going on inside a racecar, and it requires a whole hell of a lot more of my attention than I can give.  Enter the AEM AQ-1 Data Logger

AEM Water/Methanol Failsafe Device Evaluation

Many years ago, we were one of the first to tune with modern water injection systems and took advantage of water's ability to inhibit detonation and provide charge cooling in forced induction engines.  With water you can run more timing, more boost & leaner air fuel mixtures...

Project EVO IX: Tuning for AEM Water Injection

When we last left our project we had just installed some Cosworth M2 cams and had tuned around that with excellent results.  Some time ago we had installed an AEM water injection system and warning monitor system and had been running the water, mostly just for thermal control when running hard.

AEM Water/Methanol Failsafe Device Part 2: Catching Our Mistakes

Over the past few months in-between other projects we have been tinkering around with AEM’s water methanol injection kit on our in-house Evo IX project car.  In looking at our data, something didn’t look right; there was too much scatter at higher flow rates for the volume of our pump...

AEM No Weld O2 Sensor Mount

Being able to quickly attach a bung for a wide band 02 sensor is a big pain in the ass.  I know a lot of you have probably tried to help a friend tune their car.  No matter how many times you told them to have an O2 sensor bung welded into their exhaust before they show up, they never do!
