I have one of the new style SSQV's with no adjustment on it(HKS says it's not needed) Ever since i've had my SSQV it's had a flutter to it. I tried moving the vacuum source and no luck....it take a STRONG vacuum to active the bov properly. I am guessing here that since i have drive by wire throttle plate that the ecu is constantly moving the throttle plate to adjust for idle when you let off the gas and b/c of that not holding a strong vacuum (again...just my theory) either way it flutters....and I know some others have had a hard time with this BOV working properly. Anyway, I set out to fix this problem without having to hack up the factory spring. Went on a hunt at Home depot and came up with this solution.

Parts Needed:
1. Two 2" pop up sprinkler heads. about $2 a piece (I used Orbit brand, the others seemed a little too stiff)
2. Two 1/2" stainless washers
3. HKS SSQV

Tools Needed:
1. Proper sized allen wrench
2. Small 7/32 open end wrench

First things first, take apart the sprinkler head by unscrewing the collar on top

Then pull the center section out

Now you will see a spring on the center piston. You will need to cut the little white ribbed plastic piece off on the botom then you can just slide the spring off the piston. Next is to disassemble the the bov. this is where you will need the allen wrench and the 7/32 wrench. This part is pretty self explanitory. Here's a pic of it taken apart

Now you'll have the small stiff spring. as you can see the springs are completely different

Now...take the TWO springs that you got from the sprinkler heads and set them side by side...then slide them together to make one spring (sort of like a double coil) then take two washers and put them in the gold cap in the end of the bov chamber. reassemble and go play. this should dramatically change the way the bov works.,.....for me 1 springs was not stiff enough and let too much air bleed off but 2 springs and the washers seem to work VERY well. Hope this helps someone. I will post up vids of before and after tomorrow.
