So far the mods are : 11:1 Wiseco pistons, VQ35 HR springs, HR oilpump,HR waterpump and cooling mods, VQ35HR factory cams, ACL bearings, ARP rod bolts, custom BIg J spec 3" exhaust w/ a 30" magnaflow 6" can, UpRev Osiris unlocked 2003 350Z ECU, NWP Engineering phenolic intake spacers and gutted intake manifold, and Chinese FWD VQ35 headers (noone else makes sh!t),
The 2 graphs are before and after the new headers and gutted intake manifold.
If we wern't having to dial back power as it is to stay in check for TTB, some cams and port work would be sick. I moved the limiter out to 7300 before the day was over because HP wasn't dropping off. If I took advantage of the individual cylinder fuel trim capability of the software I would find a few HP.

the quest for power is over, 30whp at redline w/o cams is awesome. I have to dial power back starting around 5500 to stay legal as it is. If we need more, we'll cross our fingers and bump the redline up again since it holds on to power now.
NASA approved switching the Scott Russell link out for a panhard or Watt's link. Time for a Watt's link and then front roll correction.
After hitting 157 at VIR (w/o the new found 30whp or any aero) aero became a priority, and then the aero picked us up 14mph (w/o the extra 30whp) on the back at Road Atlanta........... so the car went to another level w/ the aero, and then did it again with the 30whp. The car is just stupid now and still has more in it, and Joe keeps pushing it.
We'll be a Barber tomorrow and Sunday with Chin Motorsports for "test and tune". Should be fun. look for some interesting and fun video. www.chinmotorsports.com/participants/list.asp
This is splitter beta version 1

I picked up a 1995 200SX SE-R to build for 2012 for NASA TTS.... which for the most part overlaps w/ the MPTCC rules.

We went up from 10k to 12k springs, +30whp and +22wtq at 7100 with a new 7300 redline, some aero work. Got some interesting video. |

There was better video to be shot, we just didn't run the camera. Not bad for an econo box. It might be time to swap to a 4.43 final drive from a 4.13. The transmission was mortally wounded on the second day, what can you do, lol. Gives my high school auto shop classes something to do.

When we got the trans it was whining...... it also already had the Maxima bellhousing on it. I'm pretty sure it was incorrectly shimmed when the housing was swapped. The 2002 final drive is 4.43 I think, everything else is a 4.13. |

Bad for aero, takes up too much space, hard to make stiff, too many parts, hard to make roll center adjustable, doesnt work any better, causes wicked toe steer if not set just right. There is a reason why race cars don't run these any more. |

The 02 spec has a 4.43 with QR25, hence all the whining about 04+ trans are "better"

Carolina Motorsports Park first weekend in November...... we need 3.48 seconds for the TTB track record. That 3.85 seconds is based on our old TTE track record........ old suspension, 80 less whp, old alignment with minimal camber and no adjustability, smaller pot calipers, low 6200 rpm redline, 2 less cylinders, etc etc. wish us luck...... Road Atlanta in December, need less then 3 seconds for that record, and then the season is over. I think we've put together a good car and done pretty well sorting it out. I hope we can hit every race next season and take all the track records in the TTB.

CMP's track surface sucks ass, and w/o a dual adjustable shocks and an over sprung suspension we fought for traction all weekend. It was really good racing with 1st 2nd and 3rd fighting within a .3 of a second window. The track record for TTB fell 3 or 4 times that weekend. Watching the video, we left a good 2 seconds on the table due to traction issues. We did everything but swap to lower rate springs and unhook the front sway. It was brutal, but I learned a lot about track surface. We would have been better off on dirt track or street tires. 2 weeks prior at Barber, the car with the same setup was full on beast mode. new brakes......... 12.9" front rotors, 12" rear, up from 11.9 and 10.5. and 1.9 or 2" 4 piston AP calipers. The metering block will get re-plumbed and an adjustable proportioning valve will get thrown in the mix. We are loosing too much time in braking zones. |
