I'm considering upgrading the drivetrain mounts in my 2007 WRX.  The car is stock and I plan to keep it mostly if not entirely that way.  The OEM mounts are very soft which is why I consider the change - even in leisurely daily driving there is a lot of drivetrain lash/movement which, besides the annoyance, makes smooth driving a trying task.

I'm not a believer in the idea of Subaru "weak trannys" blowing to bits by a strong wind.  However part of a mounts purpose is of course to absorb shock.  Given that its a 4WD car with a let's say satisfactory strength transmission, what is the real level of concern for added drivetrain stress?  Part of me thinks the lashing is worse than a lack of movement.

Almost forgot about this post!  No replies? It is a serious question; perhaps I didn't explain the concern well enough. I'm concerned with the possibility of extra load on the drivetrain using stiffer mounts. Or should I not be?

One of the cars i work on is a 04 sti. It has a fully built engine on with a 30r turbo. We put the upgraded group N mounts on it as well as the subframe lockdown and diff lockdowns with a exady carbon clutch setup. the car is driven HARD once a month and to date we have had no problems with the 6 speed. Yours is the 5 speed so i dunno how much different they are, but i think alot of the damage or dont damage really depends on the clutch.
