I needed some spacers to install some speakers in my car, so.... I designed some and had some prototypes made up.  They work pretty well

Are those rapid prototype? They look like something a Honeywell engineer might design.

Yup, rapid prototype.  After having installed them, there are a couple little changes I'd make, but they work right now.  I designed them to use the stock screws and stock mounting holes for the stock spacer.  You like how I made a hole above the screws to allow access for the screwdriver

Yup. Project S2000 in fact. I decided against getting a sub(amp to of course) to keep the weight down, and keep some trunk capacity. So just upgraded the door speakers (components) and a small amp for those. The door panels can rattle a bit when I crank it from the bass. If I use my leg to brace it, it keeps it from rattling. Can't really do that for the passenger side though.... I might get around to trying to fix that one of these days.

I used CATIA, but the design is quite simple.  Any 3d modeling software can do the job easily.

I got around to fixing some of the rattles.  On the drivers side, there was a gap between the door panel and the door; so it rattled a bit when the bass hit.  I stuffed some sound damping material (sorta like dynamat) between the two and it fixed it.

On the passenger side, turns out i just didn't screw the speaker all the way down to the spacer.  So the speaker itself was rattling.  That's fixed now too.  Now the only signficant 'noise' I can notice is the plastic water liner thing; it flaps around a little bit due to the air being displaced by the woofer.
