I decided to start this fun topic because of Aaron's recent road trip article and the Big Trouble in Little China love. Let us not forget, Jack is just trying to find that beloved 1986 Freightliner FLC120, "The Porkchop Express"!

My guess is that between all of us here, we could compile some of the best movie cars, chase scenes and movie car moments of all time.

Here's an off the wall one, pre-wacko Charlie Sheen days. He may have driven a 1970 Dodge Challenger, stolen a C4 Corvette, but it's the way he drove the Cadillac Allante right out of the airplane to save the girl that I give 'Terminal Velocity' some movie car love. Maybe the best use of a Caddy in a film yet, definitely haven't seen one go faster!?

GAME ON!

I'll start with some less obvious:

Herbie: The Love Bug was a great car movie, but Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo was one of my favorite movies as a kid (and still is). Great fun racing action.
The Blues Brothers. Best. Movie. Ever. Ever.

I like the death machine in animal house made out of a Lincoln Continental.  I also like Stuntman Mike's car in grind house.

Long live the Bluesmobile!

"It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"

Remember the little Mitsu that Jackie Chan and the James Bond Jaws guy drove in Cannonball Run?  That was awesome...

I like Supras because of Fast and Furious.

I am ashamed to admit it, but one of the things I credit with my love of automobiles was the original Fast and Furious.  The other big thing was Gran Turismo 2.

Yeah, as bad as the movies are, I gotta admit that the cars and stunts in the Fast and Furious franchise are pretty sweet and make the movies fun and enjoyable. It's kind of like an old kung fu movie... horrible acting and plot, but awesome action & fight scenes. Except replace fight scenes with cars. And Johnny Tran and his wolfpack. Wait, no...

I used to fein shame over the F&F, but I've long grown past that. If you don't take them too seriously (or personally) I think they can be a lot of fun. I'm even looking forward to seeing the new one when it comes out at month's end.

So, including TV shows, anyone remember Hardcastle and McCormick? I used to watch that as a kid purely to see the Coyote.

Including TV shows?!?!? There's no question at all that for me the General Lee was the star of the Dukes of Hazzard. As a kid some of my school pictures where you're supposed to get all dressed up have me wearing a Dukes of Hazzard T-shirt because it was the only way that my Mom could get me to smile for the photographer.

Surrprisingly when the movie came out I never even bothered watching it, I might have to at some point for the Jessica Simpson parts.

Yeah, if we go into TV shows, I loved Knight Rider as a kid. Talking car, gas pedal lights up when pressed, cool red stripe up front. And as long as we're off topic, I also loved CHiPS!!

Dukes of Hazzard...best TV car show ever! I remember watching it for the General Lee in the beginning, and later on I realized that Catherine Bach made me tight in the pants and I watched it primarily to see her (hey I was 12-13 years old at the time).

In retrospect the TV show was super campy (but I still like seeing Catherine Bach), however the jumps they did with a 4400 lb '69 Charger were super impressive.

The more recent movie actually had some pretty good stunt driving, thanks to Rhys Millen doing most of the driving duty behind the wheel of the General Lee.

If we go TV shows, I'm think Ferrari 308 GTS from Magnum PI. I need to see more of these on the road!
