A car journalist buddy of mine happened to be in town the other day and we got together to shoot the preverbial breeze. So we get to talking and starting looking over old issues of magazines and talking about Z content, shooting out "whatever happened to" inquires all afternoon.
He flipped open some old SCC issues featuring the amazing Mike Kojima Project 300zx of now legendary fame. He mentioned how the Project 300ZX looked nice amongst the back drop of all the legendary Z's at the old Nissan of USA museum that was in Long Beach some years ago. Z's like the convertible 300ZX pace car, Paul Newman's Z31 race car, some of the SMZ's, etc. After going through the inventory, we got to inquiring on their current location. I was curious of that myself.
When ZCON 02 was going on, the Z convention folks never went to the museum because Nissan of USA was in the process of moving to the plant in Tennessee. But I was never told if that amazing stable stayed with us here in the states or was shipped overseas to the Nissan Headquarters. I know that the Dastsun Heritage museum does not have them for a fact.
Did these cars stay in the USA? If so where?
Btw, this is the original pic that got me curious. Note the background.
