I stopped in at Border's closing sale yesterday and they still have a ton of car books. I picked up an Engineering Dictionary (perfect for me cuz my memory sucks and I'm always forgetting definitions), a book on turbo theory and design, and a book on chassis dynamics. Deals weren't spectacular, but they were good enough to spend the money (I saved about $30 on the three combined). So if you're looking to learn more, go spend some money and learn it. Knowledge is power (literally in this case)!
Plus if you get lucky you can find Mike's book on Hondas where he totally forgets to use spell check. Despite the dyslexia, I dive for it all the time when my Honda buddies need help. |

I went to the borders in Brea, CA and unfortunately their car book section has been completely pillaged of anything worthwhile to buy. I actually went there looking for Mike's book haha. |

People only critique others in an effort to bring them to their level, It makes them feel better..... Don't let that deter you Mike! Just remember he bought the book and refer's to it constantly for the knowledge contained therein.

The book was proofed by professional editors several times before printing and they didn't catch the mistakes. I challenge anyone who thinks they have better spelling and grammar than me, to write at my speed and volume and see if there stuff comes out any better. At MotoIQ we usually only have time for our one copy editor Colin to check stuff once and on the fly because we have to bring a story live so fast. |

You know what's funny, when I read this last night? This first thing I thought of was, "well that sounds like an editorial problem, which falls on the editor and publisher, NOT the writer"! I don't really critique anyone on a few mispellings because I seem to make my own on an all too regular basis anymore. I'm so self-conscious of using the words they're, there and their because my brain doesn't catch it too quickly anymore. So Mike, PLEASE keep writing, keep Motoiq glued together and don't sweat the use of 'there' in your second sentence on this last post |

I mean I usually got A's in AP English in high school, did really well on my SAT, got A's in English in collage and got in the 98th percentile in my WPE test when I graduated so I am not freaking stupid when it comes to writing. We just write a lot and fast and it's super annoying when spelling and grammar nazi's pick things apart. I can probably find errors in their stuff too. Sometimes I get scathing indigent letters to the editor about spelling and grammar. My reply is how much did you pay to read motoIQ and if you don't like it, don't come back.... |

I say screw the scathers! I know some people say they sympathize, but Mike I can actually empathize with you on most of what you said. I'll PM you sometime with a little blick into my life and how I can relate. In the meantime, I'm gonna soak up the greatness that Motoiq offers, not complain about how much I pay , and spread the word to any of the real car guys/gals I meet! PS. Can I write a scathing, indigent letter on how I want to see your LS1 powered AE86 idea become a scary reality or maybe a meeting of the minds of Kojima and Hsu for a tricked VQ project? |

Sometimes I get too wrapped up with spelling corrections that the content ends up suffering. I like quality of content and if you make any mistakes it makes you seem more human and not just a race engineering super robot... or something. Anyway, thanks for the hard work Mike and put a VQ35 in an AE86. |

Just to add to Mike's comment on editing vs. writing speed. I probably only spend ~25% of the time writing the content and 75% editing. It's not easy and takes an assload of time. |

Like Mike says, content comes out quickly here. Sometimes an article will go live before I've even had a chance to look at it because a new article can go from a draft to an approved article between 11:00 and midnight. Mike is highly prolific and highly crunched for time but still continues to turn out great content. With a magazine you have a month between editorial cycles, we have at best... days. |

Another thing i find is that it is very diffiicult to catch errors in something you have written yourself. I find it funny that people really waste their time to write letters complaining about this stuff.
