Its never easy getting started in club racing…Over the last couple of years I've raced with a couple of clubs in the northeast region and have actually been instructed by some who compete in other clubs I have never been out with...By far, as a beginner in any racing club, getting acclimated with the scene and learning how everything works has probably been the most challenging...
Maybe if you have close friends who race, the beginner transition is easier, but if you don't, the task of joining, learning and competing with any racing club can be a difficult and sometimes a frustrating and overwhelming process...The large size of some DE groups, where your car fits in a given TT class or how to get involved in club races were all aspects I attempted to tackle on my own with no prior knowledge (other than MotoIQ and couple of forum race friends)...
Through this process I became familiar with a couple of the major racing organizations available in the Northeast...All have their perks, history and standards...I have enjoyed all of the organizations I have raced with for different reasons...In the end, I hoped all would be more interested in me wanting to improve my driving skills while enjoying a friendly community-type of environment...Maybe that's selfish as a beginner, but paying top dollar to race with any organization, I always felt like there should be more to the community and the learning process...
