I'd like to do some articles on my mk4 golf TDI to add additional diversity but my time has been directly focused on our virtual home here.

TDI Golf?  Sounds like a prospect for a turbo upgrade

No kidding there.  I chipped the car to compensate from the previous owner short shifting and sooting up the VNT vanes on the turbo.  With sooted vanes the car sometimes goes into limp mode.  I've tried every other fix as recommended on Freds TDI page and had Leonard (ace TDI mechanic) at Wild Rose check the car over.

The annoying thing is a key cycle fixes the problem.

Unfortunately upgrading the turbo means also upgrading the clutch and nozzles.  The clutch slips in 5th on cold days with just the chip.  The ultimate goal is 50 mpg and tire shreading torque.  The car only has 116K so its still a baby diesel.

Hey if you're looking for some writing help, I'm not a bad scribbler myself. Unfortunately I don't quite have the technical savvy to write myself to the top of nerd-dom, but I would be interested to contribute in other ways such as editing or what else you may need. I've got some background at the car dealership level and at the OEM level.

I made a post at vwvortex / the car lounge http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4672036 and in my local thread with my car friends http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothre...;page=1169

and at city-data.com which has a good amount of traffic on the automotive forum but not too many nerdslwww.city-data.com/forum/automotive/...-mags.html

If I remember correctly you have some domestic background as well.  Send Kojima (smartbomb) an e-mail.

Just a bit. My first few (six) cars were domestics; I grew up as a GM fan. Then I bought a 16V VW in 1998... and today much of what I know is based on old vw's. I spend a good bit of time last winter helping a friend build a mk1 jetta coupe with a dual-weber 16V swap. All kinds of 25 year old greasy, rusty fun. But I've been into classic Mustangs for awhile and someday I'd like to build one.

I've put you up on a few small boards I'm on. I'll link some of the LeMons articles to NASIOC. I think the motorsports guys would love them. Keep up the good work.

I really enjoy the site and won't hesitate to spread the word. Let's drop an Evo or Nissan (not the 300ZX) and replace it with a time attack DSM though
