A Starlet is a RWD car powerd by a push rod OHV engine. A Tercel is a FWD car powered by OHC crappy little motor, they don't share anything as far as I know. If they had a FWD version that shared platforms with the Tercel, they didnt import them here.

Mike is right, those Starlets (EP82 and later EP91) were never imported in the USA.
And yes, they are FWD and some turbo (GT model, then Glanza V) and also some AWD but never turbo and AWD (swaps have been made tough).
The old RWD Starlet (KP76?) also had a turbo version in Japan.

I wasn't saying they were, I actually said "that other countries got" That means there are motor importers that have them somewhere right?

i know this is an old thread, but just in case for people passing by.

Tercels, el31/42/53 are the same chassis as like year Paseos & Starlets...the latter being a shorter wheelbase.

The 3ee in his tercel is not exactly "woohoo" but it is a decent basic motor. I've succesfully turbocharged a 3ee in my friends car with a JY Volvo 15g turbo, fish tank valves to baby the map, a Godspeed intercooler, & Starlet injectors & it made 130whp/144wtq at 8.5 lbs of boost.

personally, i would swap out to a regular 5efe. another very obvious & very well worn path is the 4efte. My '97 that i run has a 5efe & its a great motor with mountains of torque (for a 4 banger).
