Here we go Rebuilding the motor in my NX2000, The old motor met a timely death on the fwy .

I had alot of fun getting that out of the motor. I had a spare SR16VE motor that was just collecting dust so I took that apart and found a 8cw crank. At that point I was going to shave some weight off the crank but funds been almost none I just left it stock and got the whole motor balanced.

Stock SR16VE rods and my replacement 2.0 rods.

Didn't shave down the pistons just got it notched to clear the oil squirters.

Got the motor back from the machine shop all balanced and ready to go.

got a few more things in that I needed to install before I could plop the head back on.

SR16 oil pan(left) and SR20VE oil pan.

Here is where I am so far, oil pan is on and the head is on.

At this point I'm reshiming the head, and wait for a little more cash to go buy them lol. Going to pick up some used HK$ cam gears from a friend so I'll beable to degree the Franklin S4 cams that I'll be running. Those cams should bleed of the insanely high compresion raito i'll have. Still have to order my Nistune daughter board and replace my old calum rom board. Also had one of these headers.

before the coating

After the coating.

Sold it tho not long after I got it coated, I had a feeling it would help with the RPM range I'm looking at with the Frank S4 cams. I contacted http://www.protech-fabrication.com/ to get a 4-1 header made to try and match the cams. Waiting on the VE flange and few minor details then they will tackle it. I'm also working on my S14 with a RB20 in it and 2 project cars are killing my limited funds. I'll post some pics of that one when get a chance. That car has a SC61 turbo, 800cc Sard injectors, Protech turbo manifold, Tomei 270 intake and exhaust cam, Nistune realtime ecu and the list goes on lol. I'm not sure which 1 I'll be more excited to drive at this point.

That's a pretty ballsy NA build. Don't get me wrong I think it will work great but how much clearance are you gonna have for the valves with the FS4/16VE pistons?

I agree about the header. From the dynos I've seen you need one a little more built for high revs with a proper collector.

We checked the depth of the valve relief on the stock pistons with the SR16 and found that the SR16's are still deeper even if you don't mod them deeper. My big thing with this build so far is the weight of the crank. The 4cw is lighter than the 8cw crank but I hope the weight I saved from the rods and pistons make it feel almost like stock again.

So you are running an unmodified 8cw crank? Its more able to rev and less likely to walk like this right?

Badass. Clears the AC compressor and all. You got some shots of the collector?

A little update. Got it back together and fired up the motor. Already past the 1k miles already and about due for another oil change. So far SR16 pistons on 91 pump gas + Frank 4's don't seem too good lol. I had to butcher my timing map to keep it safe but safe don't = hp lol. Also had a Skid plate made for my 4-1 header before I put everything back in the car. All I can say is WOW if I didn't have it on I would have killed my header with in the 1st 16min of driving. So far I have had a lot of OMG That must have broken something but it didn't. I'm working on a problem right now tho, My wideband is showing me going lean on the top end even tho I'm maxing out the fuel map to richen it back up . Might be a bad Factory FPR or fuel pump or injectors. Going to swap out the FPR with another one and prob throw in some 370cc injectors.

Am I seeing that right, is the header THAT low? DAMN! How close is that to the ground when the car's back on all fours? I'm guessing a couple inches at best?

The only thing I ever hit is the very front of the skid plate. It's a littler lower than the header itself. I just have to drive like I'm super slammed and it's ok. The Skid plate was worth every penny tho the header still looks good underneath.

Glad to see there is at least one FWD SR guy that is interested in doing things right instead of cheaper than dirt and 3x dumber! You are going to have to notch out the valve pockets sideways, that where the clearance issue is if you want to run a decent lobe center. You only need to go 1mm.

That's cool.  I had a control arm brace on the car that hung really low, so I know what you mean about having to drive it differently.  And yeah, I'd cry if I dented up that header too.  Nice build!

Didn't have to notch the pistons at all. We checked the clearances with the Fraklin 4's and it was good. I forget what the final numbers were when we degreed the cams tho. It might have been +12, -10 it was a crazy amount lol.

Also forgot to mention that I modded the cam HK$ cam gears. Mazworxs told me to change out the allens for Stainless flanged nuts.

A little update. I had a intake manifold built for the car after my friend had one made for his car and had good results with it.

Getting the throttle body cut and rewelded again to get a straight shot for the intake like on my friends car.

I had Protech-fabrication build the intake manifold for me. I also saw a 06 spec V sentra 6speed trans at a local yard for a really great price so I bought it lol. I wanted to get rid of the cable clutch and go hydro clutch. Going to convert it to a 6spd with the Mazworxs kit but after I get my 240 on the road lol.

Thanks I forgot to update it tho lol. I killed my pistons when I was having problems with my Nistune ecu lol. I can laugh at it because it was such a stupid thing I caused myself.

I swapped in some coated stock pistons.

This was back in July, I got the motor back together and fired it up. Pulled it out side and parked my 240 inside. I have been working out of town since so I haven't
had a chance to hit the dyno or anything. I miss driving it tho .
