Hey Y'all, not sure if anyone else is interested, but I cannot for the life of me find any of the major publications out there, like C&D, R&T, M/T, or Automobile Mag -- who have actually done an instrumented test of a 2012 Mz3 Skyactiv Sedan or 5 door hatch, with M/T.

I am interested in knowing what the typically reported 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are.  I know that that is only one aspect of a car's performance, but none-the-less...??

Also, I am interested in knowing if Mazda sells individual repair components for their manual transaxles e.g. synchros, sleeves, bearings, etc...  And specifically, for the Mz3.... the new Six Speed manual transaxle.   For that matter, I'd also like to know if there are a whole host of special jigs required, to be able to rebuild a Mz3 6 speed transaxle (some 'boxes require selective-shim setups, or they will end up not turning at all by hand, or end up being ultra-sloppy -- with bearing or major part changes).

Finally, are any FSM's available for the Mz3 (the new six speed)?

Lots of questions.

YMMV, but my general conclusion is that Mazda is probably the ONLY Japanese mfr that bakes SPORT into each and every model line of cars it makes.  Honda does not, any more. Toyota (almost) never did (certainly in recent times). Nissan -- makes that electrically-steered piece of s**t at the bottom line (what's it called -- the Versa)and has tons of CVT-droning transaxles.... I'll quit now LOL...

I tend to agree with that last paragraph but electric steering isn't really a bad thing, the NSX had it. Motortrend tested the Mazda 3 Skyactiv Sedan with the 6 speed and got 7.8 and 16.1. Though as I'm sure you know numbers may vary in different conditions and shouldn't be taken as a guarantee of performance.

that'd be damned acceptable for the kind of economy they're capable of.

Thx for the responses, folks... and thx for the M/T source.  I will look.

Cheers,
