I'm based in Shanghai and have constructed with the help of Art of Speed Racing a little track terror from the most unlikely platform... a Geely MR (Merrie). It's an super-econobox that is based on a Daihatsu Charade and powered with a knockoff Toyota 8A (a 1.3L version if a 4afe...). From the factory, it supposedly weighed about 900kg and is rated at 86hp. Now it weighs a bit more than 760kg with fuel and all fluids. I haven't dyno'd it yet so I'll save the numbers till I do. The chassis has been seam welded and a full touring car style cage ties all major suspension points together.

-GiTi Treaded SLICKS (R compound) on Realux wheels

-Overbored block 80cc increase

-Mocal Style oil cooler and remote filter

-DEFI gauges

-4-1 header, 50mm stainless exhaust leading to motorcycle muffler

-Lexan windows everywhere except for the front

-ported cylinder head with back cut valves

-40% lighter flywheel

-fully adjustable coilovers

I'll start by saying that other than stage 1... the biggest component that needs upgrading is the driver software package.

Starting in January, I shall add the following... in this order;

Stage 1

-spherical suspension bushings or 'uniballs'/heim joints etc so that our camber and toe setting have some real meaning...because as of now they kinda don't

-larger master brake cylinder, and bigger brakes all round (last round was terrifying about 5 laps into it!)

-smaller custom fuel tank

-new exhaust routing...straight out the back baby

-lighter smaller battery

STage 2-likely by the end of February

-lower final gear ratio

-some kind of ECU hack to allow for more RPM...right now 6000 stock limit is not cutting it at all. If i have that raised to 8, that'd be nice

- new intake setup .... depends on the ecu being solved

-electric coolant pump

-aluminum underdrive alternator pulley

Stage 3- APril/May

- custom cam regrinds. i'd like stock lift but much more duration around 280deg would be a good starting point

-limited slip diff... there is nothing available that I know of, but I'm gonna try and see what I can make fit/ what I can afford

Stage 4

-upgrade radiator (it'll be starting to get warm outside by then

-Make custom hood ducting and maybe even a FRP hood (pricy)

Stage 5-provided that the car is still in one piece...when I have time to do the work...oddly enough this part is one of the cheaper segments of the build. Not sure whether or not I'll do this part, because it'll mean that the transmission, clutch etc will fold up, AND I'll have to move to a higher class (they class by power to weight)

-New Engine combo ,higher compression, lightened crank, oversize valves, ITB's

Feeling NakedSponsorship sticker on! Let's race!

Lemme know what you guys think!
