If you guys want to see how it wend down, you can see it here.

Crazy action, Darren McNamera actualy broke his arm in the accident, his arm got stuck in the spokes of the steering wheel. He kept on going and still drove well! I have always had a lot of respect for his driving skill but he is as tough as nails as well. |

LS = WRONG ENGINE! But it does the job I suppose. What I'd really like to see in Dai's S13 is a single turbo 650hp VQ35. It would be the right manufacturer and maintain the correct "spirit" of a Japanese modified car platform. |

LS is light, cheap, reliable and broad powerband. Less shit to go wrong. |

I'm pretty sure we could build a reliable single turbo 650hp VQ with an even broader powerband than the LS. Holding out the bat to center field like Babe Ruth, I'd call it 650whp with a flat torque band from 3500-8800rpm. How's that for power band? YEAH, LET'S DO IT!! (on Falken's $$$).
Damn, the VQ would sound absolutely awesome too. |

hhhmmmmmmm....... I think a GT4088R would do the trick. Feed each bank into each side of the divided turbine housing. With 3.7L to play with, should spool pretty fast. |

Heh, Mike mentioned the advantages of the LS as being light, cheap, reliable and broad powerband. You can probably approach/surpass the broad powerband with a turbo VQ engine but what about the cheapness factor? I imagine it would cost a fair bit. Also, after all the additional plumbing is added for a turbo and intercooler system I don't think a turbo VQ would be much lighter than the current LS. |

Cheap only gets you so far. To go further with a broader powerband, that costs money unfortunately.
If you want a broad power band, get an LS. If you want super ultra broad, use a Cosworth VQ with a proper turbo setup. Winning is never cheap.
You know how it goes: going from 300hp to 600hp might cost you $10,000. To get 700hp it costs $20,000. ($ figures are for illustration only) |
