I'm not that into drifting but I am always interested in suspensions and chassis. I particularly like understanding how to tune for different conditions and purposes such as for rally, street, and in this case drifting. What do you prioritize? What improves predictability? I think it would be interesting.

Got Dai Yoshihara's car locked and loaded in practice last night at Formula D. The rest of the crew is changing the final drive because the course is so tight. I got assigned to help Calvin Wan last night, effected some changes and the car responded well but didnt want to experiment too much with potentialy risky stuff before qualifying tonight.

Jeff shot some awsome video.

Top level pro drifting is very technical and scientific. The set up is every bit as important and instense as road racing but very different, more like a mix of road racing and dirt track. The best set up is very different and the handling needed is very different that just a couple years ago as the sport evolves and gets more intense. This will be a very interesting article!

I would be interested in a "How setting changes affect the car" type of article.

Get an S13 with a basic set of adjustable control arms, a good consistent driver and few sets of matching tires and just start with OE alignment settings and report back how the changes (camber, toe, stiffer / softer shock settings) affect the cars handling and stability.

I have a basic understanding of the concepts involved but I've never stepped up to adjustable suspension parts because frankly, I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm not a good enough driver to tell if the difference is related to the change I've made or just improvement in my technique.

I don't know if others would benefit from this type of article. I would assume this knowledge most racers gain by buying the parts and trying the settings for themselves. It would be beneficial to me to at least have a better understanding of how the changes should affect the car before starting the process myself.

Is this still an option?? I'm very interrested!

I don't think this topic has had enough exposure yet. I personally like drift and grip (yea, same car), so I say GO FOR IT!

Dude, I'm down.... I think it would be very interesting to see the contrast between the classic road racing and grip set ups VS. the drifting stuff.

I'm sure they have some pretty amazing things going on chassis wise

yeah i'd be super interested. +1 on the contrast between grip/drift set up

my total knowledge of drifting is limited to initial D, Gran turismo and the snowy roads we get in wisconsin, so other than thinking it's cool, my vastly microscopic knowledge is probobly 110% wrong and i'd like to fix that.
