Last week Big J and I picked up a B13 for a 12pack of Stella.   Seriously!   It was lightly hit on the passngr side and didnt come with a motor.  But we got a motor and tranny from a NX for $300 and dropped the car off at the frame shop (traded the guy an OEM B15 exhaust for checking/straightening the frame).

We picked up a JDM header for $70, GC China copy cats with 400/500lb springs for $50, and full KYB shocks for $200.   We sold the interior for $200, so we're good with the budget.

TEAM HOR (High Octane Rice) LIVES!

While you're within the budgetary restraints, you're gonna be overcoming BS laps every race due to your overt "race" stuff. We (Pucker Factor Racing) have been fortunate the judges have missed our Tokico Blue struts. Our first race we received 50 laps for the header and they scoped the cams. The second race we got 5 laps only because the transmission chose to puke it's MT-90 in the BS tech area.

Best of luck.

In other words, leave the drainplug loose to increase the crapcar index?

No, forget to bolt the passenger axle to the bearing carrier so the axle slides out of the tranny. That's a much craftier method than simply leaving the drain plug loose.

A judicious coating of flat black, grease and dirt can work wonders. A little wear through on the paint and wa la, old shit. Although hiding coil overs is going to be interesting.

Best of luck.

The judges are a lot smarter than that.  Our Lemons team got mega penalized to the same exhaust manifold and old and worn out urethane bushings.  Those coilovers will get docked for sure too.  They are on to grease, dirt and flat black paint.  If you whine and complain, they will keep on going as well.

the Lemons is just for fun, scoring a B13 SE-R and drive train for $312 is the flip side. After Lemons the car will still make a solid track car.

That is the best advice.

Or run a Z car, they have an official pass.
