Wow....... that thing is quite amazing. Nice to see F1 KERS filter down too. I saw that Ferrari has put KERS on their 599. With this 918, it even makes it AWD! |

The car looks awesome, but I am an anti-hybrid or electric sports car person. Call me a hater... |

Hater Well, I do not like the fact it adds weight. If it were just an inline system with the tranny output shaft like on the 599 (I think), where it's still just RWD, I'm not sure I'd want it from a purely performance standpoint.
But this system makes it AWD which is cool and should help it really pull out of the corners.
I'm doubting that 3.0L/100km figure (78mpg). I just don't see it happening with the 500+hp LMP engine sitting in it. I guess if you use hyper-miling techniques. |

Eric, as soon as I can get my hands on a Volt pre-prod tester (if ever, *sigh*) I need to take you Cosworth guys to lunch. Maybe if you get to experience it firsthand you will begin to come around. There are A LOT of possibilities to explore in the addition of hybrid and electric technologies to performance vehicles. I know some folks who could make a badass hybrid racecar if left to their own devices... |

I'm down to check it out. Instead of Chicken Dijon we can check out Chicken Maison on PCH this time. There are all these Mediterranean chicken spots in the south bay huh? |

I think that car looks spectacular. Eric just doesn't like anything without big explosions inside of combustion chambers. I like technology, but i love a real engine as well. I can get behind hybrids, but the tesla is something i cannot totally come to grips with yet. Keep batteries for the data system and ecu =) |

You got it! I need to have some pissed off internal combustion noise, the smell of fuel/oil, and the vibration of a raging engine with non-compliant suspension and stiff ass sidewall tires to make me satisfied. But maybe I too will turn around one day. Merritt will enter me into the step 1 of the "accept alternative fuels" class.
