I got the RS50 running now, the thermal barrier coating on the expansion chamber actualy seems to have made it feel faster.

I love small displacement bikes. The New Ninja 250 looks so good, so tempting, should have never ditched the one I had. I wish they would bring over some of the other 250's and 400's.

You would love my RS250, Near 600 speed with light weight and nimbleness of a motocross bike.

If the RS250 was street legal, I'd own one. Day trips to Route 29 (dragon's tail) are about 400 miles round trip.

Just got back from my first test run of the RS50. Scott Dodgeon, the guy who build Dai's cars for Falken fixed my engine cradle so its stiffer now. The bike feels much smoother, less vibration and the shifting problems that RS50's suffer from are gone, it shifts like a Japanese bike now.

I thermal coated the Jolly Moto expansion chamber because its raw and super thin, it was starting to rust where I could not WD40 it without removing the fairing and it actually seems to make a difference. The power band is wider and more meaty! I thought the claims of more power would be BS, but I guess it actually helps somewhat.

I still have XP too, not about to change!

Last night I installed new upper control arms in a friend's B5.5 Passat.  Before he bought the car it was rebuilt from an accident and they installed the control arms on the wrong side (lefts on right, rights on left) of the car.  So they were interfering with each other and the upper mount, machining themselves to death .  It was a flippin' $680 for the four arms too!  Just standard OEM replacements.

I helped my kid install a new timing belt on his Z yesterday. While at it, we fixed a power steering fluid leak, and changed the oil/filter and fuel filter. We also cleaned 11 years of crap out of the radiator fins.

Earlier in the morning, I went over to a guys house to try to figure out why his newly purchased $1k Z wouldn't start. As soon as I heard the motor turn over, we went straight to the compression test and found zero psi in both banks. We only checked #1 & #2.

I, uh, un-monkeyed the passenger side airbag OFF light on my s2000. I failed to plug it back in when I replaced the headunit. Fail me!

BTW, for those of you who are not liking Vista, I'm really digging Windows 7. I've been running it for over a year (beta then RC) and just installed the RTM and it's actually fantastic.

No car stuff this weekend. I hung gutters/evestroughs all around my house. Worked into the dark on Saturday, finished on Sunday. That's about the last thing on my lengthy to-do-before-winter list so I'm pretty proud of myself

I repaired the steering shaft to u-joint connection on a '67 Camaro out at Cali Speedway on Saturday. The hole through the hollow tube was wallowed out and allowed about a 1/8 turn of steering wheel freeplay. The driver didn't like that at 150 mph on a car that isn't made to turn.

Non car related... My other hobby is home theater/audio. I have been working on a dedicated room for the past 2 years on and off and am getting closer to finishing. Here's a quick pic. of it's current state.

Fixed a gouged crankshaft and bent woodruff key

Took down one really shoddy temp fence that separated my backyard and replaced it with a better temp fence that now lets me enjoy 90% of my backyard instead of 40%

driving back from a summer class thing in new york the exhaust came off the cat in my van (dang road kill raccoon was a bit more 3 dimensional than i thought normal interstate road kill should be), temporary fix with a hanger to stop it swaying around making noise until i got back to wisconsin so a guy who actually knew how to weld could fix it.  also the passenger side sun visor kept smacking the side of the door, pennies jammed in didn't work above 70 mph but some gum got it stuck.  got back home, some new double sided tape fixed it.  more monkeying than fixing, but at college i don't do much working on cars, and i don't have to do constant  work to keep it going/in one piece like my old jetta.

more recent- used a rubber band to close some leaks in a rotten valve stem on my friend's vibe so she could get it to the shop for a new tire.  more ghetto ingenuity.

had to go and diagnose a noise issue on my friends 04 STi. 4 people looked at it and didnt notice the front tranny subframe mount was missing the 2 bolts that should have been holding it on. hmmm. scavenged 2 rear caliper bolts from a crashed altezza..ok then bye bye.
